We were very happy that we stopped for lunch at the Cafe Edelweiss. I enjoyed the Jaegar Schnitzel, which was loaded with mushrooms. Since I really don't care much for sausage, I learned to order jaeger schnitzel off of menus that are only in German. It is an entree with breaded porkchops, noodles, and mushroom gravy. I believe that Cafe... More

I am a fan of "kässpatz'n" (check wikipedia) and here I found the best ones, with a perfect proportions between dough and cheese. The cheese was also of very good quality, probably because is produced arond the corner. Portions are not enormous, and probably it would be bettere to serve them in a pan, but definitely worth a trip.

Good place for a satisfying country meal, in our case lunch. this is a cash only friendly place. It has a rustic atmosphere, with a menu that is on the plain side, but it is very satisfying. Its fare is wursts and salads (try their pumpkin seed dressing). There is also a good selection of local beers and wines. You... More

Great restaurant. Frequented by locals and farmers. Best restaurant we visited in Ettal. Found an English waiter for us so that they could explain a bit more in detail.

We visited Ettal Monastery and stopped here for lunch. What a great decision. The waitress was very friendly and spoke english. She brought out a kids chair for my 10 month old and a toy for him to play with. there is also a swing set for the kids. The food was DELICIOUS. I would definitely go back here again... More

It was busy when we sat here for a lunch so we really had to wait a while before someone showed up to take our order. But they were very friendly. Food was good, I personally had the francoise Salad (€10,80). It was good but not very special.

Had a high quality weisswurst and pretzel here but the desserts really stole the show. Best apple strudel I had in Germany or Austria. Wife enjoyed baked cheesecake. All homemade. Great place to launch a visit to monastery next door

This is a lovely restaurant that sits in the valley of the Alps looking north down the mouth of the valley into Germany. It sits in the shadow of one the prettiest monasteries (Kloster) that I have seen in some time. We had the haxen and Kloster Hells (a clear pils beer). The kloster beer is made just around the... First let me start off with this is an awesome eatery. I loved how you could sit inside or outside, and we sat outside and talked and enjoyed the sounds of Germany. Not to mention the food was amazing and after our main course we couldnt help but have dessert here. The cheesecake was to die for, and in fact... More

We went to Edelweiss after being unable to get service across the street at the Kloster Restaurant. So glad we did. The typical food was great; the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent.
