Restaurante La Vecindad has really good Mexican Food. I know, I’ve eaten here several times. This is not your cheese covered, refried beans and rice Tex-Mex style. The menu is not large, so I am working my way through it. Their grilled chimichanga is much...better than the US fried version. Tacos are very flavorful, I only wish they would use two tortillas to make them easier to eat. I really enjoyed the combination platter. Nachos come as a large plate full. The plates are entrees without side dishes. Still the quantities are good and the prices are very affordable. My biggest complaint with the food is it is not as hot and spicy as I like. Panamanians food is typically not spicy and never hot. You can ask them to add jalapenos or have them bring you some on the side. But I would really love to have some goods salsa to go on my food. When you order you receive a small bowl with refried black beans, perhaps 8 to 12 chips sticking up in it and a little fresh cheese sprinkled over it. It is quite tasty, but you need use a spoon or fork and they definitely need to give you more chips. The service is not a very attentive despite the fact I’ve never been a there when there were more than a few tables occupied. However, what you call the waitress over they are very helpful. Also, I was not charged for my jalapenos on the side. A new addition is the ice cream stand inside the restaurant. Both scoops and ice cream on a stick are available. This is billed separately. When I paid by credit card I receive two receipts, one for the food and one for the ice cream. This might be a little different style of Mexican food, but it is really good. Even with a few flaws I highly recommend this restaurant.More
