2015 established, authentic western/fusion/local specialities restaurant with English menu. The staff speaks English, French and Chinese. The Flying Tigers Cafe is a unique place in the old town with a humble atmosphere and exquisite food quality, using mainly local products.

THE Yak Burger joint... The burgers are really, really good and well worth it, but make sure to make a booking since ALL the tourists will come to this place. The service is very friendly and they will be very accommodating.
Hard to get a table there during busy season, so booking in advance would be recommended. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food is nice, burgers are the best in town for sure for sure! Do try yak meat burgers. Italian mushrooms gnocchi (or...tortellini, forgot what they call it on the menu) wasn’t recommended. Too dry, too hard. Service was slow (to be fair it was a full house that night). The reason I said it still has space to be improved was that during the whole stay, we all smell something weird, really smelly and sour. Staff explained that it was from a jar of fermented sour bamboo roots. Anyway, no mater what it is, it really ruined our appetites. All the others clients were complaining as well. Hope do a better management hiding this jar better, further, deeper.....More
We had a couple of dinners here on early August 2020 and we ate hamburgers, yak steak, yak minced meet with blue cheese, dumplings and everything was really good, service too. One strong hint: book in advance not only the table but also the food....The first evening (August 6th) we went here at 19:30 but it was not possible to eat hamburgers because they finished the buns. Several other dishes were not available too.More
Came for a change of pace from Chinese food and really enjoyed the food! Delicious Yak pan fried dumplings are a must try. Good burgers with Yak meat - tried the one with avocado and my husband tried the local bacon one - get the...bacon. French fries were crispy. Good beer and wine selection. Only thing we wanted to try but didn’t was the pizza - on a sign outside but not on the menu. Service in English available so gets busy with expat crowd. On the pricier side for China (approx US $30-35 for 2) but that’s the case for all Western restaurants. Highly recommend!More
This place is so delicious, we ate here twice. Being a vegan and gluten free is massively difficult in China. But this place can do it! Really, really accommodating when I asked them to remove cheese from my salad and add some quinoa. My husband...has the yak avocado burger and he couldn’t stop raving about it. I would strongly suggest this cafe to everyone!More
As a foreigner living in China since 2011, it’s always a treat to enjoy a good western meal. The blue cheese yak burger I had at Flying Tiger was AMAZING! The atmosphere was super friendly, the environment clean and the decor had a fun, rustic...elegance. What impressed me the most though was the service - the young man who served us was kind, patient, helpful and completely on top of everything! A delightful evening!More
