Nel 1940, il maestro pasticcere messinese Dante Veronelli rileva dal napitino Jannarelli nel centro di Pizzo il Gran Bar Excelsior, che in seguito cambierà il nome in Gelateria Dante proprio in onore al suo primo proprietario, per proseguire l'attività imprenditoriale si avvale della collaborazione di un giovane pasticcere di belle speranze anche lui di Messina, Giuseppe De Maria, al secolo "Don Pippo", inventore del Tartufo di Pizzo. A seguito della morte del Veronelli, il De Maria rimane l'unico proprietario dell'esercizio.Nel 1950, Giorgio Di Iorgi il quale aveva iniziato la carriera lavorativa dentro la gelateria con il ruolo di cameriere, comincia ad apprendere l'arte della produzione del

To be honest I had better ice-cream in caffes and bars near Dante. My ice-cream was only half frozen when they bring them to my table

Love this place. Family owned. Mothwatering gelato. My fave flavours, amarena and pistacchio. This geletaria is a little more quiet than the rest. Always met with a happy smile and courteous service. Grazie signora

We came here as part of our tour. The owners showed us how the ice cream was made. The ice cream was so delicious, we returned the next day. There is a good choice of flavours.It is conveniently situated on the main square.

Tartufo nero and tartufo bianco-Gelateria Dante it is the only place where you can understand the tartufo.Wonderful - the words are not enough to describe this tartufo experience, you have to try it yourself only here.Bravo!
