This a really lovely little, cosy restaurant with excellent food and great service - from 2 charming waitresses. It was, almost, faultless. Only let down by the group of 12 British guests next door to us. They were so loud we could barely have a...conversation. Given the size of the restaurant, and acoustics, maybe they should limit groups to 8 people maximum?More

A first class mountain restaurant with great service and exceptional well cooked local food. The poached egg with truffles and the steaks were particularly well received and the tart tatin was very tasty. A good selection of regional and other French wines completed the experience....The only negative was that we were squeezed in to a tight space following the arrival of a large group.More

We are staying in Le Bettex, about 5 kms away. Our chalet hosts had no recommendations to make so we searched on TripAdvisor for somewhere in St Martin, which is a lovely village to which we had skied. We got a lift in from the...chalet company. The restaurant has the sort of decor and atmosphere that you would want in this part of Savoie. The staff are welcoming and the food could not have been better. The wine is fairly pricey but we settled on the excellent Cote de Rhône at 28 euros a bottle. When we asked them to call us a taxi for the trip back, the waiter said he’d take us in their minibus, which he did 5 minutes later! He would accept nothing by way of payment or a tip. I don’t think I have ever had that sort of care for clients. If you are staying in St Martin, Praronger or Le Bettex this place has my full recommendation. It’s worth the trip.More

Delicious meal - pre-booked as we were a v large group (23) during half term. Lovely table all together. Service was excellent - very attentive with extra salad, meat brought to table to accompany fondue, tartiflette etc. Wines were very good (not cheap) and desserts...very interesting and beautifully presented. Thank you for a super evening!More

We (group of 4 adults) were recommended this restaurant by our chalet host. We were not disappointed! I had veal which was in a lovely light cream sauce & rice. My husband had the lamb which came with veg & polenta. Puddings were to die...for especially the whole chestnut!! Service was friendly even though they were busy. Place is not too big so when full not too noisy! Would go here again!More

A cut above most mountain restaurants in an area with many excellent ones. We'd skied there backcountry from Pointe de La Masse to Le Chatelard, about 2 km away; Valentine will pick you up if you know were you are! We were recommended to have a meal here if possible when we were staying in Val Thorens last week. So we did! Although a good ski to get there boy was it with it. It was a beautiful day and there were no tables outside...although we had booked. The really helpful young man in charge set us up a table outside even though he was extremely busy. We had a variety of dishes from Raclette to Spaghetti with crayfish. An incredible setting and an utterly charming management. Thanks so much.More

This is a lovely little restaurant - now with a new terrace. With friendly service, they try hard to make the menu just that little bit different - and its worth it. It's near the bottom of the kids' slope with the drag (not the...main one with the bubble at the bottom) - you have to swing hard right as you exit the tunnel skiing down - and it's in that row on the right as you ski down. (Don't go right to the bottom of the slope and look up!) It's worth a visit.More

Visited for dinner as part of significant birthday celebration for my wife. Restaurant very amenable to pre meal table decoration by my daughter. Warm greeting and attentive service in this cosy and traditionally decorated restaurant. We gave the menu a good go, having Foie Gras,...Apricot Salad, Perfect Egg and Soup for starters with Boeuf Bourginon, Filet de Boeuf, Lamb, and Fondue for mains. To drink we had substantial amounts of Macon Verze, a full bodied and less than dry white Burgundy and St Joseph Rhône red. For dessert the staff served a cake my daughter had bought and they (re) decorated, very graciously. We have visited Le Montagnard for lunch frequently, but this was our first dinner trip. Very enjoyable and a fixture on our itinerary in the Three Valleys.More
