We had originally tried to visit another restaurant that had been recommended by friends, but it was closed.
So we searched for others close by, and stumbled across La Hiugeula de la Abuela (Grandma’s fig tree.)
You walk into a gorgeous courtyard with plants and flowers all around you.
The menu is typically Canarian, with a good choice of fish and meats, including rabbit. We enjoyed a dish of the latter, and a fabulous Vieja fish, cooked to absolute perfection - just cooked, and still full of moisture and taste.
The service is really special. The team are very young, but really attentive and genuinely interested to chat and to get feedback on all the dishes.
Well worth travelling to - I’d recommend booking, as we only just managed too get a table.

The food at this restaurant deserves the best score, but the slow service means it doesn't get the best score. Great atmosphere in the courtyard, very cozy and winding with lots of plants. Small menu, very good food, friendly service, fair prices. We had a beef fillet (very tender, cooked as requested) with side dishes and pepper sauce and the Peto (Wahoo - nice and juicy) with Canarian potatoes and salad. On our last day we had lunch in this lovely restaurant in Echedo. It is a very nice place with very good seating options. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable. We had an excellent glass of white wine from LA Frontera and a tuna from the grill with papas arrugadas and some salad. Excellent ingredients and very competent cooking. Definitely our best meal in El Hierro.
