Well, I must admit when it comes to food I am the worlds pickiest eater. The steak I ordered was prepared to perfection. The potato was heavenly and the green beans were just like my grandma used to make. The service was above and beyond anything I have ever seen in my life. The chef came to my table and... More

We stayed not far from the Mai Kai and just walked down for dinner one evening without a reservation. No problem getting a table, and the food was very good. My husband had the tuna steak and I had the poison cru, both were excellent! Good wine as well. It was dark when we got there, so not much of... More

Food was nice but as soon as we sat down the waitress listed off 5 things they no longer had on the menu. After ordering she came back to say they were out of our options now so we needed to choose again! We thought this was poor for a highly rated restaurant

Positives: 1. Excellent New Zealand salmon entree. 2. Good wine and cocktail selection. 3. Friendly service. The assistant chef even visited us. Negatives: 1. Entrecote steak a big disappointment--too tough, especially for the price we paid. 2. Restaurant shuttle service was more than 30 minutes late in picking us up at our hotel. Conclusion: Disappointment, suggest you consider alternatives.

We loved our first visit there and went back a few nights later. Second visit wasn't as good as the first. My wife's pina colada had no alcohol and had to be sent back. I was also told that they had run out of wasabi cream sauce just before they brought our entrees out. Not sure how you don't know... More

It was a slow night and the food was awesome! My husband had the best tuna he's had in his life! I enjoyed the filet mignon, prepared perfectly! I recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We made a reservation but really didn't need one. The service was slow until we walked up to the bartender who was a lovely woman and very friendly and helpful.

On the water with views of a great mooring field, we spent several nights on our private cataraman and ate or drank every day at this fabulous spot. Inside, the bar has some comfy nooks and limited bar chairs, ensuring relative mellow atmosphere. The food is very very good. The service and kindness shown was remarkable. We felt we became... We ventured out our first night in Bora Bora and were lucky enough to get a seat outside for drinks/dining at Mai Kai. The weather, wine, food, service, and company of my wife (not in this order) combined to make our first evening a wonderful start to our time here. We never did get back for dinner, but I would... My husband and I both had the steak option for dinner and it was delicious! Even the mashed potatoes were excellent! Portion sizes and prices were good. Service was fast and friendly, and the environment was fun yet classy. Our drinks were expensive and very weak, but that seemed on-par with our experiences in general in Bora Bora. Overall, highly...
