We made a reservation but really didn't need one. The service was slow until we walked up to the bartender who was a lovely woman and very friendly and helpful.

On the water with views of a great mooring field, we spent several nights on our private cataraman and ate or drank every day at this fabulous spot. Inside, the bar has some comfy nooks and limited bar chairs, ensuring relative mellow atmosphere. The food is very very good. The service and kindness shown was remarkable. We felt we became... We ventured out our first night in Bora Bora and were lucky enough to get a seat outside for drinks/dining at Mai Kai. The weather, wine, food, service, and company of my wife (not in this order) combined to make our first evening a wonderful start to our time here. We never did get back for dinner, but I would... My husband and I both had the steak option for dinner and it was delicious! Even the mashed potatoes were excellent! Portion sizes and prices were good. Service was fast and friendly, and the environment was fun yet classy. Our drinks were expensive and very weak, but that seemed on-par with our experiences in general in Bora Bora. Overall, highly... The restaurant, the ambience, the food and the staff never fail here. Live music couple of times a week create a really nice atmosphere in this waterside restaurant. Nice views across the lagoon from the terrace and from the inside tables. The menu is fusion with influences from Polynesian and French ingredients and way of presenting the dishes. Yammie cocktails... More

There are only three decent places to eat in. Viatape: Le St James (which was unexpectedly closed on our arrival), Mai Kai, and the Yacht Club. We met some expat sailors who recommended Mai Kai , walked us there, and introduced us to the owner. It was between the lunch and dinner hour. There was no kitchen staff apparently, and... More

I have been here couple of times and really enjoyed everything about it. Beside the food that was delicious I really liked the atmosphere there, the service, but mostly the view. It was breathtaking!

Seafood dishes are a must since it's fresh. Ambiance, food, drink all very nice. Just remember, you're on island time here, slower everything! I'm from NY and had to get used to it. Throughout the islands in French Polynesia, the locals love the French, if you don't speak it, you're level of service is second rate, I'm not kidding. My... More

We had here for dinner on our last night in Bora Bora. We arrived a little after 6:30 pm, and almost had the place to ourselves. We had a private, candlelit table, and the building itself was very beautiful. It provided a nice ambiance for dinner. Unlike many of the restaurants in Bora Bora and Tahiti, we found the service...
