To fellow reviewer grampulina: take your xenophobia elsewhere, to where the sun don't shine, if possible. Incredible how this comment has not been reported/flagged. Just so you know, more than half the food you eat is probably produced, harvested or handled at some point by dominican hands. Go to any good restaurant in any major city in the world and... More

I have to admit that I have been to al Salam a few dozen times. , I always used to compare with other Middle Eastern restaurants and one thing was always better at another place, be it the Quibbe, the Felafel, or else. Today, my youngest, my wife and I agreed that all the plates were Top Notch above the... More

This is a hole in the wall ... The decor is not good and it out of the way. BUT, if you want good food at a reasonable price this is it. It's not fancy. The staff is great. Worth a trip.

I will go to the point: After eating at least 40 times in the last few years, I had three bad experiences in a row. 1) Almost empty restaurant, only one waitress and he forgot half the items ordered, and instead of apologizing, he just said he didn't remember us ordering the missing 3 entrees. (strike one). 2) Entree ordered... More

We stumbled onto Al Salam while shopping along Roosevelt Ave. My wife and I love Middle Eastern food, so we thought we'd give it a try. Getting in through the security door threw us for a moment, but we were really glad we got in. I grew up in Cairo and Beirut, and let me tell you, this was perhaps... More

OK as i always post to all the my followers... Friday night i try al salam... what can i say... average in every item i can judge, the place looked old, and there was an arabian or palestinian fat guy talking by phone shouting in arabic language, it killed all the romance ambience with my girlfriend (i have seen arabs... I read other reviews and must agree that the locale is downright ugly and looks unkept. But their food is so good! This is not the place to go for a romantic memorable evening. This is the place to go if you want good arab food at a reasonable price. I always order the combination dish #3 named Hayfa. It... More

Looking for an unique experience and not satisfied. The waiter was not professional, and argued my friend about some dishes. Not impressed with the drinks and wine we had. The hummus tasted like if it was mixed with peanut butter (I know how to make different kind of hummus homemade). I had the lamb chops and they were good but... More

We loved this arabian place because they offer value and good service. My favorite here is the Lamb with yogurt. Also falafes are awsome. The best value is their combo platters. Note: you can exchange the salad for a tabuleh salad.

I had visited this restaurant many years ago and the food used to be very good. It was very disapointing, even the lentils soup (which I LOVE) was tasteless. The hot tea seemed as a blend kept somewhere in case someone at some point ordered one and the rest of the plates where so mediocre that we could not eat... More
