Visiting family in Sherbrooke and took a drive to Coaticook so we decided to stop in for a poutine and a burger.

Ordered a pizza for takeout with a 'Garden Salad' Pizza was great, but salad was huge with a pile of cole slaw, fresh peppers, cukes, tomatoes and a big pile of lettuce. Excellent value. Had breakfast there the next morning too, also good value.

Good basic food at reasonable prices. Have eaten here several times and quality seems consistent. Would recommend.

We stopped in just at the turnover from breakfast to lunch on January 2nd. Ayer's Cliff had been shuttered so we were looking for somewhere for a while. We told the waitress what we wanted and she returned, in due course, with the full breakfasts around the basics of our order. Fresh tomato, great potatoes, as well as eggs done just right, sausage/ham and toast. Service was friendly and prompt even as they shifted gears to lunch.

Americans can always feel welcomed and wanted at La Place as the staff easily recognize our accents and great us with welcoming Quebec hospitality.

We were 10 people for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning. They fit us in with options to please our group. Some of us had the Dejeuner Travailleur which is a complete meal and only $10 including the bottomless cup o' joe. Service was a little slow ( only 2 people serving) but very friendly and accommodating. The bill for all 10 of us (6 adults and 4 kids) was only $50 before tax and tip. I would go back if ever I am in Coaticook again.

We used their take-out service on our first visit. The order was: one ham sandwich, one galvaude (chicken poutine) and one 3-piece fried chicken. The only edible item was the ham sandwich. The poutine's sauce and the chicken topping were awful and lacked seasoning. The only acceptable component was the cheese curds. As to the 3-piece fried chicken, the French fries, while plain and soggy, were the highlight of the dish. The fried chicken was greasy, hard, and it lacked flavor.

We probably came on their busiest day at the busiest time as we found two tables at the very far corner of the restaurant in order to seat seven. As to be expected, the wait for the food was very long after we ordered at the counter and then went to the table. But the wait was rewarded with a rather decent hamburger with a side of cole slaw and fries. There was also a cup of gravy to dip the fries. Nothing special but it seems much of the town shows up here.
