After being in Italy for 1.5 weeks (and eating at one of the top 5 restuarants on TripAdvisor every night in Lucca, Florence, San Quirico, and Montepulciano), this was hands down my favorite restaurant. All courses were delicious, ranging from pumpkin torta, to pesto pasta,...More

A pity we were only staying a night in San Quirico because we would have liked to have gone back to this restaurant to try out more of their specialities. Fantastic the crostini with fresh marinated anchoves and pesto, sublime the wafer thin slices of...More

Unfortunately, we were only spending one night in San Quirico and therefore only had dinner that evening. The warm welcome by the owner, Luciano (who also speaks English), the interesting menu with local specialities, the very simple tastefully arranged dining area and, last but not...More

8 of us ate a wonderfu dinner to celebrate finishing a section of the Via Francigena. Initially we had wanted to eat within the walls but we would highly recommend taking a few minutes to walk here down Via Alghieri. Only opened at 7pm and...More

We loved this place so much that we ate here twice during our 5-night stay in San Quirico. The service was so warm, welcoming and informative. It isn't located in the old town itself, but is no more than a 4 min stroll away. The...More

Not only the food is excellent, carefully balanced between tradition and innovation. Host Luciano is magnificent! His restaurant goes well beyond providing a great culinary experience: it delivers a fascinating journey into Tuscany's history, art and culinary tradition (using rare local produce). Of course the...More

The Fonte alla Vena Inn is a warm and welcoming restaurant in an ancient building of historical importance which has recently been renovated. It is on the Cassia Road, close to the village of San Quirico d'Orcia close to Montalcino , Motepulciano and only 4 km from Bagno Vignoni well known for its hot springs The restaurant used to be an inn where " knights" would stop to eat, drink, sleep and let their horses drink. The building in front of the inn was a furnace where the famous Chigean pottery was baked. This has lent its name to the restaurant. The restaurant is run by owner Luciano who give the guests a warm and friendly welcome. At the end of the meal, guests are invited to leave their comments and suggestions in the guest book, which will be used to continually improve the quality of the restaurant.
