Opposite the street from the Ibsen Museum in Grimstad is an unmissable little jewel, the Cafe Ibsen. The atmosphere is super cosy, especially indoors but on a sunny day its spacious terrace is the place to be. Super tasty fish soup and shrimp sandwiches are...on the menu, Norwegian comfort food at its best. They also have a nice offer of sweets as well as coffee drinks, cappuccinos, etc. Great choice in this lovely small town.More

This place had a serious upgrading in the last years. Now they have really great food there, especially the quiche with spinach which is just awesome. Quite pricy but totally worth it. Nice place otherwise, a lot of cosy corners to sit in :)

Delightful hostess who cooks all the food and runs the place with great joy and energy, copious fresh breakfast, quiet, peaceful room, Victorian Scandinavian decor, great location. History and beauty combined.

So cosy and charming. Feels like going back in time. The food is good. We had cake and coffee. A little expensive but worth it. Definitely going back here.

Cafe Ibsen is a very cool cafe during the day, either outdoors in the sun on one of their lovely patios or inside in the cozy 1800th century-style atmosphere.. After 5 pm every day the place turns into a great little gem of an Italian...restaurant! Ibsen did live many years in Italy as we know and therefore the concept: great Italian food in Grimstad- the place where he moved as a 15 year old, to stay 7 years or so. During the evenings here you will find yourself surrounded by burning candles, an ancient atmosphere heavy with history, enjoying amazing home made pasta made by their fantastic chef Edgar. You will also find fish and meat dishes on the meny as well as an incredible fish soup with saffron. Oh, and don´t forget the lobster. The ingredients are very fresh and local and I recommend this place a lot! Did I forget to mention; it is very romantic;) but it also works great as a place to take business contacts out for dinner!More

Cafe Ibsen is a lovely little café which turns into an Italian restaurant after 5 pm. The atmosphere inside is like being in the late 19th century with plush and some almost royal furniture and wooden rooms. Upstairs you can sit in a room to...yourselves if it's available. The food is also very tasty and elegant Italian food, and the menu is based on Henrik Ibsens favorite foods when he lived in Sorrento, Italy.More
