We have been here before, actually last year when we were down, but just for drinks. Yesterday we had lunch. Staff are smiley, happy people, beer is good and the food is the best you will find in the area for the money. I had Chicken Forrestier, breast of chichen, creamy mushroom sauce, homemade chips, salad and coleslaw. Chicken was... More

We have eaten hundreds of meals from Devon to Northumberland. This was without a doubt one of the worst. I ordered rump steak with chips, peas and tomatoes. I ordered the steak medium. It was some bit of donkey, half raw, just medium at the edges. The tomatoes and peas were tasteless, the chips inedible. Skinny lumps of potato, greasy... More

Stopped off here, with our dog. Had the most beautiful food and very reasonable price. Dog was also catered for with water and dog biscuits. Staff very friendly, and served a good pint as well.

However food wise, we ordered a fish and chips and sunday lunch, food came out... More

Called in for a drink and was going to eat. Soon changed my mind when we sat with a drink before ordering our food. I was sat near the door and was pestered with flies, we moved to another seat thinking that would be better. Unfortunately it was worse and ended up flies on my glass. I did mention this... More

Enjoyed a brunch catch up at this pub in the shadows of the Tynemouth Priory ruins. Lovely location and a great decor of local photos and famous UK quotes. Great spot for a visit.

Popped in for lunch on a sunny saturday. My wife and I both went for the fish chips and mushy peas for 5.95 (suprisingly cheap). When they arrived they looked very good, however when eating found the fish texture very soft and mushy and the batter soaked and oozing with rather yellow oil. the chips were very thin and equally... Visited this pub on Monday 16 May for lunch we again secured our farvourite table allowing plenty of room for our dog. She was treated to a bowl of water and ourselves to the normal cheap meal. This pub is great if you don't like gastro pubs with inflated prices and egos. For real ale devotees there is always a... More
