My wife and I called in for a bit to eat. As they say you have to to help you stay alive. We hadn't booked. But we were shown to a large table and seated, we had to wear a mask everywhere except sitting down at our table. Including walking to the toilets that were nice and clean. We were not very hungry but wanted to eat. So as my wife is a Geordie we decided on stottie with meat pics the day ( beef) with salted fries and side salad, ( I asked for non salted , salted fries and they were happy to comply) but when the so called stottie arrived it was what we in Nottinghamshire call a bread cob. We were quite disappointed. Although it was only about £7 we expected to get what we asked for, a traditional Geordie stottie. We were happy with the rest of the dining experience. Just very disappointed with the meal. Don't think we will be back

On the day we visited the restaurant was very quiet. That in itself was telling, as this was once a very popular venue. Two of us opted for scampi and our son chose chilli. To be fair the scampi itself was good and the chips edible, though not as good as they used to be. However the salad really let the meal down. What little there was, did nothing to enhance the meal. (very basic garnish) Shiremoor Farm in the past always served beautifully fresh salad and plenty of it. The portions are now smaller but the price has increased. Moving on to the chilli. The meal looked a bit of a mish mash on the plate (too many different elements) and the portion small. To be fair my son said the meal tasted ok. However it did not represent good value for money.

We arrived at the Shiremoor House Farm pub for Sunday lunch at around 4:45pm having not used this bar/restaurant for many years. We ordered 2 pints of beer £9… Then ordered 2 Sunday Lunches. 1 beef and 1 chicken. Service was very quick, the plates were placed at our table and we were asked if we’d like any sauces/condiments. The chicken dinner was actually ok. Not the best but certainly not the worst I’ve ate. Not worth £15 though… It consisted of a chicken portion (breast), green beans, Mange Tout, Mashed Swede, 2 boiled potatoes and 2 Roast Potatoes which were so hard they couldn’t be eaten. They were like Aunt Bessie's frozen potatoes that had been microwaved again for our consumption. Not great. Gravy was sparse. The beef dinner was the same. We wont return again for lunch as we’ve been let down many time here but have always went back for another try. There are plenty of other food establishments around with better food and value. You pay for the pub only which is very nice.

Disgraceful service We had a Saturday evening bar meal.. 2 of the party ordered fish and chips, the chips were raw ( £13 each by the way) no one came over to check the meal was ok .. we had to inform them at the bar.. They took the fish and chips away.. returned the fish on its on .. which we had to wait for new chips .. so all in all we had a main meal consisting of FISH followed by CHIPS !!! Clearly the manager / deputy manager thought this was ok !!!!! Been going in the pub for 30years .. clearly now they have NO STANDARDS!! Rubbish

We have visited this place frequently in the past but not recently and the food has obviously gone down hill. Three of us ordered beef stotties which allegedly came with fat chips. The stottie was obviously a mini the beef and gravy had no flavour whatsoever and under no circumstances could you refer to those chips as fat. Very disappointing. The waitress who was charming said we should have told her and they would have given us something else but why when what we wanted was the beef stotties? Wont be returning or recommending.

Ordered the chicken parmo with triple cooked chicken.... the chicken was reasonable but soggy underneath but my issue was with the chips... hard bottom of the bag bits that were inedible. Gave feedback to have the young lad who informed me that was as they were triple cooked! Erm I’m 43 and have had chips as described which were soft and fluffy on the inside and crisp and golden on the out as opposed to the white hard scraps I was served which were obviously frozen rubbish. No apology and even my husband commented on how unhelpful he had been when ordering drinks. My sister ordered the chicken skewer fajitas which arrived with two healthy looking skewers but one 8inch wrap which was dry and would not accommodate the filling nor the price tag. wouldn’t recommend in a cheap restaurant but service, price and quality would tell me to advise that you avoid this poor establishment.

Its been a good 6 months since my last visit to the shiremoor house farm. I have had some excellent food and drinks in the past. We went with friends on the 31.1.20 for a catch up and some good food and drinks. One of our friends was a little concerned by the bad reviews and I assured them that I'd not experienced any issues in the past. We arrived 7.30pm and our friends around 7.00pm; we went to the bar having been pre warned by our friends that they had to wait a long time to get their drinks. Having waited 10 minutes in a queue (locals stood at the bar appeared to be served their beers in-between serving customers who had waited patiently in a queue). we sat back down and reviewed the menu. At 8.10pm I went back to the bar to order my food. To my surprise a very abrupt and rude Australian lady advised me in an aggressive manner that they had stopped serving food! I said I thought food would stop at 9.00pm " we have an hour and 15 minute wait, so we have stopped serving food." I said we were not aware and I enquired why the condiments and menus were still on the table? she abruptly replied "its the managers decision not mine" and stormed off to the other bar to serve someone else! I was flabbergasted by her unprofessional approach and lack of empathy. So we left our drinks (expensive too!) and headed off to the pavilion (part of the same group) and despite getting there around 8.30pm they were exceptional. Accommodated our every need and assured us not to stress over the time (despite the place being busy too) and the server (Roberto) was very professional and courteous. Shiremoor farm - perhaps gain some customer service times from the Pavilion staff. I won't be going back to the farm.

We last came here in 2017 and thought we’d give it another go for Sunday lunch. It wasn’t busy, but the service was incredibly slow and meals took an eternity to arrive. Waitress said plates were “scorching hot” yet they were lukewarm and food was just warm. Yorkshire pudding way over cooked and also cold. Sunday lunch served with a thimbleful of gravy. The meat looked heavily processed and very fatty. Incredibly overpriced and would not return.

We went here for lunch for the first time in ages and it’ll be even longer before I step foot back in the place. I ordered the steak pie, and it was like it was a bought in pie from Morrison’s or Asda, soggy pastry and nearly any filling! It came with about 8 “chunky” chips and peas.... it was like a kids meal! My wife got the lamb kofta’s which again were nothing like home made food, the “Greek” salad they came with had nothing Greek about it! Just plain small side salad and the “garlic flat bread” was a plain shop bough pitta! They are obviously cutting corners massively due to the current covid situation but the food is terrible and not worth the money! I’d avoid the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc too as that was so bad we sent the bottle back and changed it to the Chilean one which was better. You can certainly why this place hasn’t had certificate of excellence since 2013 and it’ll be a long time before they are anywhere getting another with the crap they’re dishing out!

I went to the bar with my daughter to order drinks and to ask what flavour crisps they had for her, the lovely lady behind the bar pointed behind her and told me "they're there"! Wow fab customer service! As I didnt have my xray specs I couldn't quite see so I waited until she had poured my drinks before I asked her again, at which point I was asked if I "want crisps or not?" Really really rude lady. It really doesnt take much to put a smile on your face and serve the public. What's happened to that place, used to love it.

If I could have given an overall minus rating I would have done so. Waited over 1½ hours for main meal (sizzler) which was sent back as it consisted of 5 prawns and a few undercooked onions and nothing else. Emerged 10 minutes later with undercooked peppers added to the dish. The sauce was sickly sweet and obviously came out of jar and the rice that came with it was so dry it was almost desiccated. I called it quits and as it was now 10.00 p.m. went home and made myself something decent and edible to eat. Needless to say I will not be going back and would advise you to give it a miss.

We we regulars at the Shiremoor House Farm prior to the pandemic and having passed the place a few times since reopening we decided to have lunch here. On arrival we were offered a table inside and as the weather was very pleasant asked about sitting outside and the waiter said we could sit anywhere but the service was via the SJF app. Well that worked out to be a brilliant choice. The service was amazing using the app. The drinks arrived only a couple of minutes after completing and paying for the order. The food was really good for the price and I really hope as the country opens up people will return in large numbers to make sure this place keeps going. My one slight criticism is that for anyone who is vegetarian there is a limited choice. That said my wife said the vegetarian burger was amazing.

Myself, my daughter and my partner arrived midday for lunch and won’t return again. First of all after waiting 45 minutes I asked a member of staff how much longer to which he said “I told you when ordering that there is a long wait” which was a blatant lie because we wouldn’t of stayed if that was the case. When finally our food arrived the chips were cold and my so called steak burger was so average for a 12.95 meal. My daughter ordered the fish bites which which was basically just batter with a few flecks of fish inside. When we ordered her the ice cream which comes with her meal she asked for strawberry ice cream to which vanilla arrived. By then couldn’t be bothered to complain as we just wanted to leave. This used to be a great experience for food and service but now it’s pitiful. And finally the prices wow. Your best off going to Sambucas for on par food but better service.

Had lunch here, simply awful! On entry, we were told to choose where we wanted to sit. No table service, we had to order and pay at the bar. We decided to have the ‘Stottie Roast of the Day’ with skin on fries with ale gravy served with dressed side salad. When our meal came, we questioned the fries, asking if they were fries with skin on. We received a brief ‘yes’ from the miserable waitress who promptly walked away. Honestly, they were obviously frozen french fries with no sign of skins. The cold beef was served in a dry bread bun and there was a small jug of tasteless gravy. There was no sign of the dressed side salad which must have blown off the plate, we hadn’t even noticed its absence until we re-read the menu after we had left. They couldn’t even get a cappuccino coffee right, that was cold. The glass of coke was okay. I happened to drop my serviette on the floor and really wished I hadn’t picked it up as the floor was definitely not clean. As we were leaving, no-one asked if we enjoyed our meal, not even a ‘goodbye’. The unprofessional staff just stood talking as we left the place. Having had a satisfactory dining experience here before, we were most disappointed with the quality of food and service. In fact, we wished we had donated the cost of the meal to charity as it was a complete waste of money. We both agreed it was the worst lunch we had ever had and there is no way we would recommend this horrible place to anyone, nor would we return.

Well!! There's nothing like an argumentative waiter to spoil your experience.. Asked for pinot with soda, came without soda, asked for soda, was told we didn't ask!! I always drink with soda, so I know I did! A simple "I'm sorry I'll get you some" would have sufficed.. Came back full of soda 🙄 Ordered "main" mussels at £15.. Arrived in the tiniest pot! I actually serve these as a child's portion at £4.95... Rustic bread, well if sliced brown is "Rustic" so be it!! Asked the waiter if we had been served the starter or the main portion, this by the way was when he came to clear, we didn't get a check back. He said in his opinion it was more than adequate for a main meal!! How rude!! So I said he needs to come to Whitby for a portion of Mussels, maybe we are spoilt at the coast? Not that shiremoor is that far from the coast either??!! So he tells us, he's from Whitby too!! Wow!!what a coincidence, where abouts in Whitby are you from Josh? Pontefract...🤣 That's actually around 97 miles from Whitby 🤣 but good try! So.. he avoided us after that..didn't clear the full table, nor did he offer more drinks or a dessert menu..Managed to get the nice lady waitress to get us dessert menus and more drinks.. On paying, asked if all was ok? We said not really, but the lady at the bar seemed happy with that answer, so we left.. As a hospitality manager, recruiter and trainer, the whole evening was great for my next training group! Don't argue with the customer and don't fib!! Everyone has access to Google maps..but I'm sure the mussels are great in Pontefract too Josh 😉
