well, yes, great fish tacos, nice talkative Cuban owner. And great deserts. And the home made hot sauce was great, too.

If you make it to the end of the road, you eat at Las Palapas. The backpackers in Tulum tell whispers of this magical place where culture, hospitality, and food come together in one place at Las Palapas. The Key Lime Pie alone is worth the journey to Punta Allen. And the flan...the flan. They will write songs one day... More

Competition is not tough in Punta Allen and Mexican cuisine is not my cup of tea. That being said, Juan and Martha do a great job preparing decent food in their backyard. Grilled fish, hamburgers, jumbo shrimps, and a fantastic flan, the best I had in my life! Everything is clean, water is purified and you won’t get sick. The... More

Juan and Marta are the gems of Punta Allen. They welcome you into their restaurant like highly anticipated guests in their home. Las Palapas would be worth the drive just for a visit with them. But they also feed you fresh local food! (Side note, don't drive to PA. Take a boat.) Martha is a wonderful cook. It is a... More

They have fresh food every day, great smiley friendly service from Juan, and amazing key lime pie and coconut flan for dessert (had to have both). It's also fun to watch the bats drink nectar from their flowering tree while you eat dinner

This restaurant is not on the water, but has excellent food at reasonable prices. The owner recently completed two rooms for rent upstairs. The rooms are clean and the bed comfortable, but need towel bars in the bathroom and better water pressure in the shower. There is no electrical power during part of the day. No wifi. Room rates in... More

Punta allen has been the best place i have ever been in my whole life! You cannot even describe in words how beautiful! Everything, was perfect... Eating fresh lobster the right moment where the fisherman catched it, from the snorkling tour on the coral reef, and at the end seeing free dolphins! No words.... Unforgettable...

Restaurant was great, I had the shrimp and veggies, just awesome. But, the real star was the Key Lime Pie, best ever. Juan, the owner is Cuban, has been in Punta Allen for years, coming by way of my hometown, Chicago. He has had a fascinating life, and has the perspective of time on the slow life in PA. there... Let's be clear: Las Palapas is an amazing restaurant for home-cooked style meals. It's not about haute-cuisine or a trendy location but about oh-so-fresh food in Punta Allen. The hosts are so friendly and the restaurant's patio area is charming. First tip: drop by and ask Juan what you want to eat the following day. He will make it happen... More
