We were recommended to go to another venue in Tomintoul for dinner, but when we looked in from the street that place looked too staid and boring. We walked across the green to the Glen Avon and were glad we did. The pub had a great local feel and the owner was very welcoming as we were obviously tourists. Our... More

Had a wonderful couple of meals here. People were very welcoming and kind, telling stories and asking about our travels. The food was exactly what one might want after a day of hiking or riding in the rain with some good local ale and a beautiful fireplace.

Here on business over the years and always like eating here. Uncomplicated food and menu. Nice range of beers and wine Like to sit in front of the big fire on the chilly nights.

We used the pub as this part is dog friendly. We found it a bit dark but the food made up for it. The staff were friendly and I would recommend the scampi and chips.

We were staying at the Richmond across the road for 4 nights. The food was awful cheap frozen rubbish same menu all week. We went to the Glen Avon from desperation, and what a find to late. The food was all home cooked, fresh, plentiful and well presented, the prices on a lot of dishes were cheaper than Richmond. Staff... More

Decided to drop in to Tomintoul for a quick look around and decided we needed a bite to eat. As most places were closed and the local shops that were opened were only serving tea and coffee we decided to pop in to the Glen Avon Hotel. As we walked in the door we were immediately greeted with the smell... More
