Good service and tasty pub grub on a busy evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the friendly atmosphere.

We just finished a 70 km walk finishing up in Tomintoul. Lovely village but the food at this place doesn't match the charm of the district. The steaks we have had up until now have been excellent, these were like leather. We appreciate this isn't Edinburgh but the value for money here wasn't there.

Characterful on the outside but lacking charm on the inside. Perhaps it was the busy Saturday night, but ordering at the bar for both food and drink was an ordeal and without any semblance of friendliness. Food was basic pub grub and tasty enough at a reasonable price, but the overall experience was disappointing.

We had the pleasure of dining here twice. This is prime pub grub territory, food that always pleases hungry travelers. Due to driving the rental car, I did forgo sampling any of the alcoholic beverages. We sampled a wide variety of dishes, Haggis to fish & chips to burgers. Food was always served hot and delicious. We would return again.

Good food cooked to order with decent portion sizes. Nice friendly atmosphere within the public area.

We were lost and needed to orient ourselves to find our B&B before it got late, and decided to stop in Tomintoul for a bite. The first restaurant we tried had limited hours and would not be serving till six. The one across the street likewise, and the eastern european receptionist seemed unable to understand when we asked "do you... More

Popped in for an early tea; food served from 5:30pm. Both had steak pie which was ok, lots of filling. Was a good place for a nice relaxed meal - even if a little dark in places!!

Popped in here on our week long visit to the area - good selection of food for all appetites! Friendly staff and quick service. Busy when tried to get a table on the Friday night, but found a gem of a place round the corner!

We were recommended to go to another venue in Tomintoul for dinner, but when we looked in from the street that place looked too staid and boring. We walked across the green to the Glen Avon and were glad we did. The pub had a great local feel and the owner was very welcoming as we were obviously tourists. Our... More
