I hardly ever give 5 points, but our stay at the Naru was spectacular. We got a perfect table with a great view and the service was phenomenal. Especially a big thank you to Joseph! You really made us feel very special.
The food was perfect. We had Sashimi and Tempura for starters and the catch of the day as a main. Our best higher priced dining experience in Barbados. Most restaurants are just high priced but cannot live up to it with either service or culinary.
Thank you for the great evening and that you gave us a great honeymoon experience

The entrance into Naru is impressive with two water features in the restaurant and we were seated immediately without a reservation booking. To start, the cocktail menu is great with a whole selection of classics and Caribbean originals. I was unsure of what to have but the bar men live a challenge! I asked for a rum cocktail, fruity and sour and sure enough the bar tender made me a special one-off cocktail that didn’t disappoint. The waiters all had big smiles on their faces and had a good insight into the menu and were excellent at helping suggest items that go well together. The sushi rolls were amazing, the portion sizes are quite large so if you decide to go for a share style meal, be cautious not to over order. Every dish was presented well and accompanied by great flavour reductions and sauces. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks to all the staff for a great meal and a great experience.

We have been visiting Naru as a couple and as a family with two young children for many years. There is a unique menu ranging from maki rolls that you will not find anywhere else to lots of more 'normal' options so that even the kids are happy. It is dominated by Japanesey influences as well as seafood but not limited to these, there is something for everyone...
Service in Barbados is typically slow but Naru bucks that trend and we have always been well looked after. You can tell the restaurant is well-regarded because lots of Bajans go there...

Went for Valentines evening, had to wait too long at the table to place order. Staff friendly but overwhelmed by full house. Most of them tourists I believe. Music performance by a lady plus band was appropriate for the occasion, she had a wonderful voice.
I went for the Yellowfin Tuna tartare Martini style for starters, the worst I ever had, color and taste seemed to come out of a can! Couldn’t finish.
For mains I took the Yellowfin seared Tuna, vegetables were well cooked and tasty but the tuna was cold and tasteless and I am saying this knowing what it should taste like as a big tuna fan.
Wine list very limited but prices acceptable for a restaurant.
If they have a life band every other night I would just return for the cocktails.

Made very welcome by friendly and professional staff at this primarily sushi-based restaurant (though cooked options and other items available). Lovely setting on the beach front, right next to the boardwalk, so we ate to the sound of the waves. Enjoyed the food - would say the menu is a bit pricey for what we had but otherwise would recommend

We visit Naru usually once a year. Last June we were treated to a turtle digging a nest beside our table - we did not pay as much attention to food as usual. This January we did not get turtles but had the usual wonderful dining experience. The noodles are excellent and a great bargain, the fish is always wonderful - both done with nice Asian fusion tastes.

The food in this restaurant is very good. That is the good bit. The management in this restaurant is incredibly poor. As a table of 4 people we waited for an hour to be served our starter, which consisted of one bowl of soup and a single serving of spring rolls for one person. The main course took a further hour and several complaints before it was served. In the meantime three tables which were empty until we had already ordered had been served and finished their main course. The manager's pitiful excuses for such poor service were: the three tables served ahead of us may not have ordered starters and there was a big group that may have slowed service. He gave the impression of being a waiter who had been promoted to manager for the night. He offered to void the service charge! For a restaurant that serves such good food it is badly let down by poor management, to the extent that I will no longer take our visitors there.

Disappointing - welcome was pleasant but seated into the arrival area of restaurant, offered water which came. We had two young kids, hoping for a quick meal. We waited and waited and no server came to take our drinks order, I finally had to go to the entrance to ask for someone to take our order. Our food and drinks eventually came. The presentation was really quite appalling, sushi mediocre at best. We ordered tempura prawns but by the time our other plates had been eaten and taken away, the prawns were simply missed. They eventually realised but we said we didn’t want them as everything had been cleared. We did get an apology, but everything cobbled together just left a sour taste. They even left the service charge in the bill!! There are some fantastic restaurants in Barbados - I would give this one a miss.

We had dinner here on NYE 2020 and it was a wonderful experience. We had a table right on the edge where you could easily see the boardwalk and the waves crashing on the small beach. The service was friendly and energetic.
I knew this place was going to be a little pricey for sushi rolls but we just wanted a quick bite before our fun NYE party at Harbor Lights. We ordered an appetizer and two rolls. I just remember the Gyoza appetizer was great and spicy salmon roll was great but the blue crab roll that I had was pretty dry. I should have mentioned something but didn't so that is why I am not dinging them for the roll.
Overall, it was a great experience, great service and beautiful scenery but it was a little pricey for what you get.

Pretty-much every time my wife and I go to Barbados we eat at Naru at least once, particularly for the sushi, and we are always very happy with it; this time was no exception.
We had a lovely dinner here on our second night in Barbados on a 1 week trip, and were surprised that much of the staff remembered us; even though we haven't been for nearly 18 months I think (if not closer to 2 years!) We were greeted very warmly when we arrived and got our table.
We ordered sushi as we usually do, and were extremely happy as always. Their classic rolls are terrific, and their fusion rolls with some nice Bajan influence are always worth a try. The night we were there is was pretty quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed that. We went back another night with my brother who lives in Barbados and it was a little more lively, but yet again the food was terrific and the service was stellar.
On our last night in Barbados we actually got take away and went to my brothers house for our last night. Unfortunately with the take away order 1 sushi roll was forgotten; it wasn't included on the bill so we weren't out of pocked, but just a little bummed we didn't get our last roll.
But, all in all Naru is, and always has been, an amazing option for sushi on the island (I can't comment on their regular menu because I quite literally only have the sushi), and has a great ambiance that always welcomes us.

Having visited for the first time last night I can understand why this place gets so many good reviews. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Our waiter made sure that we had everything we wanted when we wanted but he wasn’t overly fussy.
I had the tempura shrimp which were just perfect. The batter was light and crisp and the dipping sauce just made it. I had the rare seared tuna for main and again it was spot on. There’s an extensive sushi menu in addition to hot main courses and everything sounded delicious. I can foresee another visit in the near future.
The waterfront location is perfect too.
Given the location and the style of the food I thought it was reasonably priced. My husband and I shared an bottle of wine and had a starter and main each, including service it came to around ÂŁ110 GBP.

Beautiful view, Good Service, Disappointing Maki Rolls. We had dinner, watched a beautiful sunset, and ordered dinner. We had a great table. Unfortunately the only sake on the menu was fruit flavored. The Wizard of Oz roll was a little flat in flavor. However the desserts in a jar were good, especially the chocolate brownie one.

Sushi in Barbados is always a dubious prospect, since prices are generally too high and quality control mixed. In this case, the diner is not reassured by the run down feel and the lazy service. Perhaps in the past it saw better days.

Run down feel? Wrong place. We recently reopened after 2 month extensive renovation. You sure you went to the right place?
Edit: I see the reviewer went 4 months ago (September), but only now decided to post a review...funny thing is we were not open in September.

We visited Naru for sunset dinner. It is a cosy little restaurant on the boardwalk only meters from the sea. The food was very good as was the service. It was quite expensive but this was to be expected in thIs upmarket area of Barbados. I had the catch of the day and my partner Carol had the prawns both beautifully cooked and washed down with an excellent Sauvignon Blanc. We wouldn’t hesitate to to recommend this establishment.
