Having read a lot of positive comments, we decided to try this restaurant and we were totally impressed. It’s one of the best meals we had in our 17-day trip in Iceland.
Homey atmosphere with country style decor. Amazing view of Kirkjufell Mountain through the...windows. Friendly servers with big smiles. Our waitress took time to talk to us about our trip and where we came from – really made us feel at home. Love the look of the menu – it’s handwritten and filled with sketches (see my photos). The upper level of the building has exhibits of antique furniture; just beware of the narrow steep staircase when you go up and down.
The food was outstanding – fresh, tasty, generous portion, nicely presented. We’ve never had a seafood soup with so many ingredients in it – it’s a meal on its own. The lamb loin was juicy and tender. Icelandic lamb is the best in the world with a mild and delicate flavour. The scallop appetizer was delicious. The catch of the day was pan fried Icelandic Red Fish with a mild, sweet flavour and a medium-firm texture. We were both very full after the main course but made room to share the chocolate mousse – it was smooth and rich but not too sweet. The bill came to ISK 16,990 (C$180) including a beer, coke and 2 coffee.
Reservation strongly recommended. Ask for a table by the window.More
