Juan Abril restaurante is a place with a steady quality off food and service, the owner enjoys food as much as any one who has lunch or dinner here. Juan is a man who has been in horeca business for a long time and who is engaged in making sure you have a best time and food he can with the help off his long time employees who are working here for years and just as Juan making sure that everything is too your expectations. Tartare prepared at your table, and also recommended is any kind off paella.

Very busy, buzzy restaurant, ideal to eat fresh fish and share 'pescaito'. Very popular with Spaniards and tourists. I think we were very lucky to get a table on Saturday lunch time; booking in advance is recommended.

If you want some special food of very high quality go here. We stopped here after recommendation by friend. In the beginning it may seem a bit pricier than other places around but the quality is worth it.
Go for tartars, especially tuna tartar, they make it in front of you, give to taste before serving. All other food was equally nice. At the end lunch cost around 23 eur each (no alcohol, just water).

We went yesterday three of us to this restaurant for the menu of the day.
The starters were disgusting .
The calamari was soggy in its batter and tasted fowl.
Two of us had the Tomato and anchovies which was served with an olive paste. It’s was huge, salty and verging on frozen where it had been stored in the fridge prior to serving.
The mains ......
One had the grilled fish - very dry and no potatoes.
Two of us had the rice stew with clams and monkfish. But there was no monkfish !
Instead five very small pieces of plain white fish !
Desserts best forgotten.
Some sliced fresh orange for one
Two of us had the apple tarts
These were three puff pastry cases - filled with apple purée verging in baby food.
Put simply this restaurant does not have a clue and the chef is an embarrassment !
My advice for the same money head to Los 4 Elementos in Albir and have something created by chefs who care what they put on the plate !

My partner and I tried this restaurant one evening, as it always seemed to be a popular place to visit during the day…we were given a choice of table, which was great. We watched a ‘regular’ couple arrive after us and receive what seemed to be an over friendly, possible familiar welcome. The waiter who came to take our order offered no eye contact, no pleasantries and seemed complacent in his role. The two waiters who attended our table gave no time for pondering or support to help us decide. The whole experience felt very impersonal. Throughout the evening we watched an older, heavier man circulate amongst the tables that were possibly regular customers. He could have been the owner/manager. My partner and I agreed the food we ordered (lubina en la Sal) was wonderful…it is such a pity the chefs have to rely on complacent, perhaps ‘worn out’ waiting staff to serve their lovely food. We would recommend the food served here, but would not recommend the experience as a whole. For that reason we have given very few stars.

We booked this restaurant several days ahead for 7 people at 19.00 to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The reservation was confirmed online.
When we arrived the restaurant was empty and our table was not laid despite other tables being reserved for other, later arriving, guests.
The waiter was unsympathetic, bordering on rude, and offered us a table meant for just 4 at the back of the restaurant under an air conditioning unit. No apology, just a shoulder shrug.
Given that we were about to spend several hundred euros we declined the table after first securing a table at a better restaurant 20 yds away.

At the start they served us drinks and 4 rolls that we had not ordered. We asked for olives so we wouldn't just drink the beer and it took so long that they served us when we no longer had beer (€3.5 for a small plate of olives). We ordered several starters including tuna tartar and beef tartar, the color of the tuna was of dubious quality...brown that was a turn off. The two tartares prepared with the same ingredients could be all the same, so much mustard and Tabasco on the tuna that you didn't notice you were eating... and the appearance of the dishes was disgusting. I do not recommend it at all, it is a restaurant that works because of its location because for quality-service-price it is disastrous.

After eating there for more than 15 years we have suffered a great disappointment, the first and most disappointing thing is that for once I booked a room, due to the heat this year and when they seated us, next to the kitchen door, We asked them to turn on the air conditioning and it turns out that they didn't have it... there is no mention of this on their website when booking... they only have fans that do nothing but remove hot air. They have also changed all the staff, previously older people, kind, friendly, great service and now young people, without any interest in "properly serving" customers... yes, a lot of modern earpieces, as if they were staff of security.
We were two people, we ordered two portions and we felt forced to order a third due to the insistence of the meter, even though we told him that we ate very little... obviously more than half of the portion remained there "extra, me my Nothing like this has happened to me in my life, nor have I felt so "harassed" by a waiter or waiter.
As I have seen in other comments, very few rations compared to years before the pandemic... anyway, despite ourselves we will not return, we had always been delighted 😒.

Paella was very good for two only. I did forget to write a review on time because the service are very unfriendly not professional.
I was there before for their famous steak tartar i wrote a review was good was only us in the restaurant no idea how service was but now I know.
We not planning going back again because feeling welcome it’s mandatory for me and it’s not the case on overprice restaurants.
Maybe they make money with tourists only and can care less about how they feels.

Knowing that my family and I were going to go to Casa Carmela in Valencia as well still wanted to try other types of paellas. What better place than Juan April. Juan April did not disappoint, we ordered 3 different types of paella and each one was better than the other, we could not decide. The food was great, the service was excellent, we enjoyed a lovely dinner and I would recommend to everyone.

This restaurant has been our special choice for many years .It is with a heavy heart that I write this review .
Today was my birthday lunch & although the location is stunning ,the service just did not reach our expectation .
There was no love / care about our experience .I remember our first visit maybe 9 yrs.ago .It was truly amazing .
However ,so sorry to say that today was not a good experience .
We were greeted well as always & then ??
Starter fine & then main . Fillet steak served raw & cold ....Sent back ,so sorry. I ordered medium to well .My husband well cooked .I feel so sad to write this as I feel I have lost my favourite restaurant.
My steak was returned, it was acceptable. However, the attitude of the waiter made me feel uncomfortable. I even apologised.
We finished our main course .Maybe dessert? No .We were not asked if we wanted dessert or coffee .In fact we sat & finished our drinks for maybe 45 minutes & no further service .
Finally, we paid the bill & left .
No ," Thank you ,see you soon ." Nothing .
Something has been lost .Very sad .
I hope one day our loved ,Juan Abril will return .
This review is constructive ,not critical .I hope it comes over as such .

on the seaside, in Altéa, a restaurant that we recommend for its value for money. A menu at €15.95 with a starter of Russian salad or croquetas with Jamon, and many other choices, and a wide choice of main courses such as baked sole, or chicken with Roquefort, fillet of beef. The menu includes bread, drinks and dessert or coffeeA prime location facing the magnificent bay of Altéa
Reception quite cold though

My first criticism is the fact of asking you for a credit card to reserve and being able to charge €8 per person if you don't show up, which seems perfect to me as long as if your reservation is at a certain time it doesn't delay 20 minutes in giving you the table.
The starters were correct, a shrimp, avocado and orange salad that was very delicious. A grilled pulp that... good. And some quite scarce sepionets although with an incredible flavor.
Afterwards we ordered a "creamy monkfish and clam" rice which, as I told the manager, I would have liked the restaurant owner to have tried it to know if what they gave us was really what he wanted to sell. It really fell well short of our expectations. After the comment they didn't tell us anything else.
We ordered dessert, the cheesecake was good although the ice cream killed its rich flavor. And the orange cake, it didn't mean much to me. We drink coffee, pay and that's it. I don't know when we'll give it another chance, I'm sorry. The waiters of 10

Attentive and friendly staff, good atmosphere, you can tell that they are people who want to work well.
We ordered rice from the senyoret, it was good but nothing more. Of course, we must congratulate whoever is in charge of making the burnt pineapple cream because it is exquisite, what a delicious thing. I would return to the restaurant just for that dessert.
I don't like the detail of bringing bread to the table if it hasn't been ordered, but it's also our fault as customers for not rejecting it.
Finally: to the people who complain about dogs being allowed on the terrace, tell them that most of our pets bother us much less than children, but it seems that you can't complain about that.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some friends who own a condo in Altea. We shared the paella (strongly recommended by the couple enjoying it sitting next to us) and we were not disappointed. The shell fish was delicious and the rice was perfectly cooked. And our waiter couldn’t have been nicer
