Very nice food, not expensive at all

We had a variety of very nice traditional food, which was suprisingly cheap. Good portions and fresh food. The service was quick and very friendly. The ownership structure is also very nice, the workers own the place themselves collectively.

Tasty lunch at a social enterprise

This restaurant is run as a social enterprise to help underpaid women. It is situated in the main square in the centre of town and serves mainly lunches and drinks. I ate a delicious tomato and cheese marmarites which is sort of like a cross between a rosti and a pancake / crumpet. It was really good. Friendly service too

Authentic Greek Food

Whilst staying at the brilliant all inclusive Ikos Aria we took the opportunity of a day trip to Kos town and visited Aegli (Womens' Co-operative) Restaurant in the main square. We really enjoyed our visit as the restaurant serves authentic Greek food and I enjoyed a brilliant prawn saganaki. We ordered two desserts, but should have just ordered one to share as they were so large! Do try this restaurant if you visit Kos town, you will not be disappointed.

Lovely lunch

This restaurant is situated on the pretty square next to the market hall. It is a social enterprise employing women who have escaped abusive marriages or are single parents. Everything is locally sourced and the cheese pie and Greek salad were delicious. Friendly and efficient service.

Great find.

We were pleased to find this more authentic women’s cooperative restaurant right in the heart of the main square. The salads were delicious as was the yoghurt with plums, honey and almonds. The portions were large and the prices reasonable. Service excellent apart from problems with the card machine.

Beatifull Eleftherias Square.

Came a few times here to find refuge from the scorching 40 degrees + Greek sun. Had a few "Gia Giamas" lemonades, the frozen smoothies which really do help cooling down and a steak on my last night properly cooked, medium rare. They also have huge ventilators outside which spray around a thin water dust, great if you have small children and such.

Best Restaurant in Kos... So Far

Visited here with family. Waiters spoke very good English and were helpful in making suggestions and answering questions. The Greek food was excellent, cooked fresh, hot and BBQ tasty. The restaurant is in a square near tue old town which is packed with locals and tourists mixing. Children seem to mix and play while adults chat and have a drink. It's a great atmosphere and experience. Sorry about the food picture but trust me it looked good.

Good location

Every summer, we visit Kos island and stay in Kos town. Aegli’s location, being on the Eleftherias Central Square next to the Kos Municipal market makes it great for people watching and having food, drinks. It is run by the women’s cooperative. The service is great. The food and drinks are good too.

The perfect spot!

Spent many a lunch time here for an hour or two, people watching on the square and sipping wine. The waiter was lovely and remembered my drinks order (rosé) each day I came back without me asking which was a really nice personal touch! They also brought complementary salad and nibbles. Would recommend.

Poor quality food

Don’t bother, if your looking for a nice meal. Try the local taverns. Steak was a similar constancy to Guandalfs Flip Flop, 9 main meals came out over a scattered time of 25 minutes. Calami tasted like a rubber band. Very poor experience over all.

Very Nasty Treatment

Facing the city square, it's probably the most nicely located restaurant in town. Been there for two consecutive evenings, because on our first visit, we were very pleased. Unfortunately, on our second visit, I found crumbs at the bottom of my beer glass. This is not important. People can make mistakes and I'd be more than ready to understand. The real problem is, when I asked the person in charge to make and explanation, the manager let's call him, he tried to convince me that the crumbs are actually yeast sediments. I tried to tell him that it was an ale type of beer I'd been drinking and ale yeast doesn't sink to the bottom like that because it's a top-fermenting type of organism. Besides, commercial draught beer is always very well filtered. When the manager realized I wasn't buying his scheme, he went on the offensive and threatened to legally confront me to the representatives of the beer manufacturer, easily ruling put the possibility of a simple mistake during serving. He was viscious, trying to tower over me while I was sitting at my table, until I stood up and faced him. That's when I had hard time managing my anger. All I expected was a simple due concession and I'd be happy to walk away with no hard feelings. What I got was threats and imposition. I'll forget this visit fast.

Nice place with excellent service

We visit this women cooperative cafe almost every year. Sometimes for a coffe, sometimes for an ouzo with meze and sometimes for dinner. Everything is good, and the staff is friendly and effective. This year we tried the shrimp saganaki which was delicious.

A great square for Meeting for Coffee

This square is the most central square in Kos town an ideal place to meet up. If meeting up with friends its easy to find even for first timers to Kos. Within area you are able to go to old town,harbour and castle in a few minutes. If your early can have a coffee or beer at not bad prices.

Wonderful food with local products, kind staff and great location (city centre)

This restaurant is very central in a plaza and has a lovely terrace. The food is amazing (only local products), they served us very fast, the wine was also lovely and the hostess was very kind. Wonderful quality and for a very good price. I would definitely recommend. Furthermore Its a woman cooperation to help women with low income so it supports a good cause.

Lovely sandwiches

We were in the town square area as we had been shopping and decided to have lunch here. The staff found us the perfect table right in front of the aircon unit so it was nice and cool. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had the smoked salmon sandwich and it was delicious, we all had great sandwiches and it was a lovely setting right on the square so the perfect spot to watch the world go by.
