We were recommended Elia while chatting to another couple in a different restaurant that we weren’t particularly enjoying and we swapped some top tips and this was theirs and we are particularly grateful having visited this evening.
It’s a lovely place in Kos old town, set back with a few tables in the street and a large garden type seating area in the back. It’s laid back with a small menu but sufficiently large to cater for most needs. A smaller menu is in my view preferable, get it right and do it well which Elia does in spades.
Waiters are helpful and attentive, house carafe of wine was very drinkable and a Bargain at 5 euros!
We certainly over ordered but the total menu was 44 euros for two... and we had ordered too much food and had 1lt of wine!
The food was delicious, simple and Greek and authentic. We had feta and spinach rolls, tzaziki and a village sausage as a starter.. really we could have stopped there but the stuffed pepper and tomato was the best I have had and meatballs delicious. Bread and olives to start as well!! As I said, I reality too much food but so good!!
I cannot recommend Elia highly enough.. great food, great value, great service!

A beautiful restaurant tucked away in the Old Town. Tables inside and outside. Waiters are the best we came across in Kos and the food was delicious. We were so impressed during I first visit that we returned the following night.
On our first visit we had starters and mains but the second time just went for mains as the portion sizes are so big. Bread, olives and olive paste are offered to all diners when you arrive..delicious!
My partner ordered auntie's chicken and fried potatoes. I ordered Mousakka with a "small" greek salad.
The Mousakka was delicious with lots of it and the greek salad was by no means "small", fresh tomatoes and cucumber with big pieces of feta cheese and the obligatory olive oil.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Add 3 beers and a large bottle of water for €36....incredible food at an incredible price.
If gyros and fries in a mediocre restaurant is what you want then visit one of the many greasy grills down near the harbour. If quality food in a beautiful restaurant is what you prefer then you wont find anywhere more perfect than Elia.
Speaks volumes that when the tourist season ends and the bars and restaurants close for the winter,
Elia's remains open all year round.

Saw this restaurant whilst out walking the previous evening and decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. Very friendly staff who are happy to explain some of the less familiar items on the menu.
We had a starter of bread and olives, followed by (1) mixed souvlaki (chicken, lamb and pork tenderloin) served with homemade chips and (2) the grilled octopus served on tabbouleh with balsamic sauce. In addition the chef made my husband some “hot and spicy peppers” which were not on the menu.
Total cost of the meal was a little under €40 which includes a beer and a glass of Prosecco. Excellent value for a fantastic meal in a great setting. Highly recommend going there.

This restaurant is in the heart of the old town. We were perusing the menu outside when a lady seated said best restaurant in Kos we’ve been coming here every year! You won’t be disappointed, we weren’t!
Lovely setting inside and out. The outside space was open but had a retractable roof should it be required, it felt like you were sitting out in someone’s Greek garden.
Service was unobtrusive but on hand and helpful, the portions were a good size and everything we had was delicious. The menu was Greek specialities plus meze dishes. If you order bread it’s a basket of chunky fresh bread and comes with olives and a small dip. There were olive oils on the table and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff.
The bill which included our drinks represented good value for money and was presented with a small complimentary drink. We will definitely be back when we return to Kos Town.

This restaurant is popular with locals, which is definitely a good sign. I would recommend booking a table in the courtyard garden.
We didn’t book so we sat inside, which was still a pleasant setting and a cosy atmosphere .
Apart from that the staff were all pleasant. I did find the menu a little confusing as there was no description of the dishes, some of which we had to google as we had never heard of ! The service was a little slow, probably because it was busy but when it arrived the food was excellent and plentiful . if you are looking for somewhere to eat Greek Cuisine this is the place to go.

We had a beautiful meal at this friendly taverna,I think they are trying to put a fresh twist on the Greek staples, for example the moussaka is an individual round, and just delicious. My souvlaki was with three meats and accompanied by the best chips ever. We appreciated the house wine a local Grenache which was Just our taste. If you are in the area give this place a visit. Tip go through to the pretty courtyard at the back for a peaceful atmosphere.

Greek food off the tourist trail. The staff are excellent here, full of advice on the menu that is a little different than the main restaurants in the heart of kos town.
I ate prawns saganaki. 👌 perfect.

This restaurant offers very generous portions. I went here for a light lunch so got tzatziki and a Greek salad. This came with bread, olives and an olive paste. The flavour of the tzatziki was incredible as with the olive paste. The same can be said for the salad which had such good quality feta and very fresh ingredients. Not to mention that the cost of this was very cheap especially when considering the quality of the food. I would 100% recommend this place if you are looking for true Greek food and flavour.

I ate here a few days ago with my boyfriend. We had 4 starters because we thought the portions would be really small because of the prices. Around 3 euros for a starter! When we got the starters, we were really suprised. The portions were big and the quality was amazing. We had 4 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts for only €58. We absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are in Kos!

Elia is a nice location with an old charm ambience. Drinks are cold a served quiekly. Food was also served quiet quickly. Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars were saganaki wasn't as good as thought before smelled a bit like ementaler from the oven.
Bread was really good, fresh, local and seems self-made, served with olives and oil.

This restaurant was some of the most amazing food I have ever tried. We went with the staff recommendations mostly and were not disappointed at all. The food was local and so very tasteful and washed down with local wine and beer.
We ordered way to much food and couldn’t finish but we were there to try different flavours.
The restaurant itself was simply but tastefully decorated with outdoor areas and beautiful flowers. The staff were attentive and helpful and the whole experience had us very satisfied.
Highly recommend trying this fabulous restaurant, you will not find better food in Kos 🇬🇷

We were on our way to Never on Sunday in Kos old town but this place looked so inviting we popped in instead. Really glad we did, great attentive service and a nice atmosphere. We had pork chops, a pork side dish, rice and saganaki, plus 2 carafes of the house white (which was great ) I think it was around 38 euros plus free ouzo and raki as we left. Nice!

Far quieter and more relaxed than other restaurants in Kos town, and with a open dining area under a pergola, you feel that you are in an authentic Greek restaurant but still very much with its own identity. The setting is relaxed, and the service is unobtrusive but always at hand should you need it.
The food is authentic Greek fare executed extremely well. Should you find yourself lost with the menu, the service staff are all very knowledgeable and are more than happy to help.
The drinks menu is extensive, with plenty of local beverages to sample. There is a Greek cider that I would recommend to any thirsty traveller who has been walking the street under the hot sun. We ate extremely well for two; the aubergine rolls being our particular highlight.
Overall, this place is perfect for finding some seclusion from the sometimes oppressive sun in Kos and relaxing an extremely convivial atmosphere. However, to visit here should be a priority for any visitor anyway to sample staple Greek cuisine at its best.

When I tried first to catch a small table for 2 people, it was full and impossible to find, so I made a reservation for next evening. I did online and very quick with a promptly confirmation by email. Congrats!
We've been delighted with a various menu with many local meze and not only, cold beer, cozy atmosphere including nice local music but not loud.
Very clever staff, explaining, recommending local cuisine.
So guess what? We booked again two days later, repeating this unforgettable experience!

At he backside of the Elia restaurant is a nice terrace. We ate here lunch on a sunday and the terrace was very busy, with Greek families with little children that were crossing around. We did not like the food, or we just made the wrong choice. Portion was big, but food was a bit fat. With the bread, they serve you olives and tapenade, which was fine.
