We had some difficulties to find the place but once there, all went perfectly! The staff is really super nice (especially our new friend John Keys) and food is excellent. The restaurant is located in the old Macau which is also super nice in terms...More

Recommended by a friend to visit, we had 2 nights of Portuguese dinner previously and it was the best in terms of flavor, service and atmosphere. The other restaurants were way too salty for our taste but this one was just perfect!

If you are looking to run away from the casinos rush, find a very pleasant typical and historical neighborhood in Macau, a nice one to walk around at the end of a busy day, that is inside a space where you can also find art...More

Environment is definitely YES. It is a very nice and old building (well maintained). Food is a bland to our Indonesian taste buds. Portugal wine is reasonable priced. Price is reasonable. But above it all... the taste is disappointing. Pork menu is the only one...More

We visited 1601 about three years ago and at that time it was unmatched for setting, service and food. The venue is as lovely as last time we came (courtyard and trees) but the food has sadly not kept up with the times. If you...More

We have been to Albergue 1601 three times altogether and have really enjoyed it each time. The spicy clam dish is great as well as the suckling pig - highly recommend both. The portion sizes are very generous, unfortunately there was more garlic than prawns...More

The restaurant is a hidden gem. Set in a Portuguese historical building of the previous old ladies home, the restaurant is a well-kept secret and is simply beautiful! We enjoyed the authentic Portuguese dishes, a good selection of wine too.Reasonably priced, good service with cheerful...More

The restaurant atmosphere is great but the food was just ok, nothing special. We were there with a big group so it was pretty noisy but I assume it is usually pretty quiet. The building is very nice and traditional.
