I think I can say that the place in the world with more Portuguese restaurants is Macau (after Portugal itself, of course). Among so many restaurants, there are obviously some that I consider excellent. "O Manel" is just average and it is not a fancy restaurant or something of the kind, it looks more like a tavern, but those who... More

Never mind the menu, you will eat what the eclectic and opinionated chef/owner has on his chalk board (Portuguese/Chinese) and selects for you! Delicious Portuguese food in a kitschy, old-school setting. 8-10 intimate tables only. Service too is delightfully attentive, with never more than one dish served at a time, so you can actually enjoy your meal, company, wine, and... More

I live in Macau (Taipa) part time and am always looking for new places to eat. This restaurant is next to my flat and am disappointed I have not eaten here sooner. The food is outstanding, the service is great and it has a very casual (cozy) atmosphere. I look forward to making this my regular Portuguese restaurant.

O Manuel is a restaurant located on Rua de Fernao Mendes Pinto street and is one of a handful of places you can try traditional Portuguese cuisine in Taipa Village. Unfortunately, from what we have experienced, neither the food nor the service is very good at O Manuel. During a recent meal, they unfortunately missed the spot on pretty much... More

Went to Macao for a day trip with my wife and daughter... decided to give it a try on Manuel's restaurant as we were missing some good Portuguese food - could not get luckier! One of the best "pastel de bacalhau" (bolinho de bacalhau / cod fish cake) we've tried! Followed by two types of Cod dishes (grilled & "Sá")...... More

We accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking through Macau on a day trip. PROS -food and the place had a fairly authentic charm -we ordered some sort of rice sea medley and the bean stew. There was barely any seafood in it and the bean stew could have used some flavour/salt. The pork in the stew was also exceptionally... More

Many of the dishes were superb! I had a wonderful experience with good company and a tranquil atmosphere! I would recommend this establishment to any of my friends, family or colleagues! I travel quite a bit and this was one of the best restaurants I have been too. The deserts are house made and full of rich flavor! I tried... More

We went with a group of over 30 and booked the entire restaurant on Chinese New Years day. Compared to other restaurants in Macau this one seems to be bent on serving the lowest quality food and smallest portions to extract as most profit from each dish. The fried rice had very little Portuguese sausage and shrimp. The octopus salad... More

I have discontinued my visits to O Manel. Not so much because of the food but mostly because i am always under the impression that if you don't order enough food (and spend enough money) the level of sympathy irradiating from the owner drops abruptly. The food itself is very authentic and i wouldn't advise a visitor against it. The... More

We were recommended this restuarant and it didn't disappoint. Small, crowded, noisy and all that but overwhelmingly coney and friendly. We ordered the squid kebabs with chorizo (cooked perfectly), the suckling pig (beautiful) and the home made dessert which was a burnt caramel pannacotta type thing (very, very good). Washed down with 1/2 litre of house white (a little rough,... More
