It's probably best to book in advance. The terrace was nicely covered, spacious and had spectacular views on a sunny day overlooking the lake. This historical location was thoughtfully maintained, clean and pretty. Food and service were excellent. Quality seemed high and the salad and carbs were served separately, which I also liked. The rather laboursome frog legs were on... More
We have visited here several times over the years and think it is the best restaurant because of the views over the lake (Lac Leman). We always dine outside where you can see the old buildings of Yvoire and also the lovely gardens of the restaurant and, of course, the view of the lake. We ordered the 3 course set... More
The service was very nice, the view with gardens and the lake was just amazing. We selected our dishes a la carte, and every dish we had was delicious including the wine and the dessert. The risotto we had with shrimps and -very tender and yummy- scallops was really good, though I have to warn Italians - they might complain... More
Got a table outside just before 2pm and the place was humming. Excellent well prepared dishes- the rognons de veau especially. Not cheap, but there was a good selection of wines. Excellent service and wide menu choice. Well recommended with a shady terrace, Very popular with the locals.
We dined here a year ago and gave this restaurant a good review and it deserved it. Perhaps a change of ownership? Definitely it wasn't up to the previous standard. The entree and sweets let the dining experience down, the main meal was acceptable. Sorry, we expected better.
We didn't feel like eating what is basically fish and chips so we opted for and their normal three course menu option. All the meals were good but nothing really stood out. My risotto, looking stunning, was too salty. The salted caramel meringue dessert was probably the best. Service was also average. I probably wouldn't return as I've tried the... More
The entrance to this marvellous restaurant is right beside the ancient city gates. We ate outside in glorious sunshine overlooking the lake with snow on the mountains as a picture perfect backdrop. Protected from the light breeze by the stone city walls this was a perfect sun trap for a casual Saturday lunch on our way back to the airport... More
Located right by the main gate to the medieval city of Yvoire, the restaurant is a wonderful complement to this shining pearl of the Geneva Lake. Setting, decor, overall ambience, it all just fits and blends perfectly together at La Vieillie Porte. My wife and I went for one of the dinner menus, which consisted of seemingly unending stream of... More
