We went to have lunch here on the way to park farm! We arrived at 2.35 and I popped to order food to find out the kitchen closed at 2.30! We had been on a long journey and I needed to get lunch for my 2 children! The young girl behind the bar was abrupt and not very helpful! Some... More

Great freshly made food in a setting that feels like it hasn't changed for centuries! Flagstone floors and log fires all year round! The menu isn't extensive but what they have is really good, fresh, seasonal and local. They also have a small beer garden which is lovely in the summer.

Very nice ploughman's with lots of crunchy yummy chips. Generous portions and fab value. Sat in garden with the sun shining and pint of cider with family and friends and the dogs too.

Both myself and my husband had fish and chips and peas and our daughter had ham egg and chips. My hubby enjoyed his myself I didn't I found the batter to be very greasy and undercooked on the inside you could see raw batter mix. Hubby said his was fine so not sure what had happened I left most of... More

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your fish as people travel some distance just for that at this pub. It would have been good if you had spoken to us about your concerns because we we are very happy to hear comments about the food and we would have been able to redress the situation. Shame your husband didn't write... More

This is our much used local. The food is good and consistent, home cooked 'pub grub' with daily specials. The selection of local beers is also very good. It can get busy inside and hard to get a table at short notice, but this just reflects its popularity with locals. However there are outside areas where it is great to... More

Nice to get a review from a regular user. We are pleased you enjoy the food and beers and hope you will continue to do so. Your judgement on a couple of staff members needing to be more friendly comes as a surprise because I thought it was only me that needed to be that!! See you soon. More

6 of us went to this public house for the first time in just over 12 months. The place still has it's own rustic charm, still has a great selection of world wide bottled beers, its collection of international bank notes. We all enjoyed our lunches which were all made on site. The meals did not leave you feeling hungry... More

We are really pleased with your review, thank you. Glad you think we haven't changed much, if at all, because that's what we are trying to keep hold of. Sorry you felt the choice was limited, it may have been we had sold out of a few items because we generally have a similar spread every day. Hope to see... More

Venue was fullish, but car-park is large enough to cope. Pub itself is very rustic with wooden bench seats etc , not the most comfortable place to sit . Menu was good and standard prices (when bread is served with the meal its an inch thick , but nice ) 6 off us ate different meals and everyone was happy... More

The stone built exterior has the wow factor to start with! and if you like old you will not be disappointed. The inside of this pub was as if time stood still.. with its log fire burning. Even though it was June, it does have the cold factor as the brick work is so cold and thick. So do bring... More

As always our visit to this great pub has been a wonderful experience. The Lamb sag curry was delicious and my son said he would have the fish casserole every time. Staff were friendly and welcoming and accommodating as we booked late for a table of six. Thank you.

Proper pub with a great atmosphere and beers. The roast beef was just right(slightly pink), the roasties, Yorkshire puds, red cabbage, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower cheese were all home cooked and tasty too. Great value, as well, lunch for the 4 of us, a couple of rounds of drinks and 2 puddings for under £50. Definitely need to book though!
