It was a Saturday night. My husband (a vegetarian) had already eaten. I was in the mood for a steak so I went to Trip Advisor and found the #1 steakhouse close to me (16 minute drive). It was highly recommended to make a reservation...but it was past 8pm in the summer vacation period so I took a chance. Not only did they have a table for me, but there was room in their sweet, intimate garden (see picture) so I took a seat. They had a small but nice selection of cocktails, whiskeys, liqueurs, cognacs and imported beers. I went with the Pisco Sour (had no idea what pisco was but I like a whiskey or amaretto sour) and did not regret my choice! Delicious. They brought a complimentary boat of chips and dips. There was a very nice and tasty chili oil and a slightly hotter salsa that was just hot enough for my delicate tongue. Only downside was the chips. Flavoured, store bought chips that weren't very exciting I just added more oil and salsa and didn't mind. My starter was grilled chorizo. Perfectly prepared in a slightly sweet marinade. It came with four small pieces of bread that were either dry or under toasted... but I used them to soak up the marinade and that worked perfectly. The server who brought the starter said "welcome back" even though I've never been here before... I suggested she may know me from a television show and her face lit up. She was a fan! She was very sweet and we talked about it for a moment but then she said "she didn't wish to disturb me" and left. The perfect amount of praise and decorum. I appreciated it. Main couse. Rib eye with a baked potato. Although it's not a deal breaker, I'm often disappointed in Dutch baked potatoes. Either underdone or overcooked. This one was perfect. My minor complaint, as always in Holland, charging me extra for sour cream. €1 for a dollop. I asked for more and they accommodated me. The steak was delicious. Being a purest I ignored the pepper sauce--the Dutch love to smother expensive meat in cheap sauces. I like the taste of meat and this was delicious! At first I was turned off when they didn't give me a steak knife but the meat was so tender that my butter knife went through it like, well, like butter. My only complaint about the steak is a common problem in the Netherlands. Here they only took me 3 ways: rare, medium and well done. I always ask for medium rare but it almost always arrives rare or medium. I still wouldn't call this medium rare (it was a little on the rare side with a tad too much red) about the quality and the the taste of the meat were so good it really didn't matter. I would have taken a picture of the steak but when it arrived it looked so good that I immediately dug in and it wasn't until after I was finished that I realised I hadn't taken a picture. That should say enough! I ended the evening with a Barraquito (a layered coffee with condensed milk, milk foam and Liqueur 43) and a piece of Tarta de queso con limón (lime cheesecake). The coffee was delicious! Very sweet! I asked them beforehand to bring me sweetener but it was absolutely not necessary. I wish they didn't sprinkle the top with cinnamon but once I started up you couldn't taste it anyway. The "cheesecake" wasn't "really" a cheesecake. It was served layered in something that was a combination between a whiskey glass and a mason jar. However, after the First Bite I had no doubts anymore. It was pure heaven! After that steak I didn't expect the dessert to be the highlight of my meal. From the tasty crumbs at the bottom, to the incredibly rich, thick and creamy cheese middle, to the deliciously tart lime topping (I wanted more of the topping but that's just me!) Near perfection! Heaven in a glass! If Trip Advisor would allow it I would give 4.5 stars... normally in a case like this, if it isnt 100% perfect, I won't give 5 stars and give 4 instead... but in this case the quality of the meat and the unexpectedly perfect dessert made everything better. Trip Advisor was right... Best Steakhouse in Town!More

We just had there beautiful diner with my family. The argentin steak was just perfect, soft, tasty, beautiful dish. We tried red wine, nice starters and desserts. I can recommend this place for everybody. Will return! :)

We where here with a group of eighteen. so it was a small menu, but that is good. I ordered a steak blue, although the waiter didn't know the meaning, for sure the cook knows. A perfect blue cooked steak of the finest quality. Just...one small remark, they don't serve vegetables, just some fried potatoes, and they have a salad bar. It would be a prefect meal with some vegetables. For the rest, A nice place for a dinner with friends.More

We have from time had dinner at this place since its opening in 1998. Now having dinner after three years again, the interior has been redecorated, nice, the steaks still broiled on a charcoal grill, the meat was still done as ordered, the salad bar...still very much OK too. Service is friendly, the atmosphere has improved after the redecoration. Still like it a lot, quite affordable too, parking in front (paid parking week days up to 18 hrs), Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Open for dinner from 5 pm.More

Best steak in town.This is very true. Varied menu. Very good food. Staff are friendly. In the summer time you can eat outside. Cosy. Bit on the expensive side. You order steak and then salad and other dishes you pay extra for. But it's good....If I want good steaks I always come here and always eat well.More

What an exquisite and wonderful restaurant. My wife and I had grilled beef and grilled chicken This was by far the best grilled meat that we had in a very long time. The salad from the salad bar was fresh and very delicious. The service...was perfect. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends.More

Birthday dinner with my "bonus-mother". As a present for her 80th birtday we had a lovely dinner on a thursday evening in the garden of the restaurant. Enjoyed the first course: a combination of "entradas". Main course (of course) Argentinian Bife de lomo from the...grill, french fries, mushroom sauce and salad from the salad bar. Cappuchino plus chocolats to complete a lovely evening.More

Great place to go for a steak, the meat here is always top quality. The starter with hot shrimps is also very delicious. Very friendly personel and a cosy atmosphere.

Gachita is a cozy restaurant in Purmerend. The food is very, very good. I had dinner there with my son and the food was divine. I had a surf & turf (steak + grilled prawns) and my son had the spare ribs (which he said...were some of the best he had ever had). The total bill for 2 was about EUR63. A little pricey, but well worth it. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Gachita has an outdoor sitting area. If you are new to the area and are going to eat at Gachita, take a few coins for the parking meter and do not rely on the machine accepting your card. Look out for the orange(ish) parking meter which is about 50meters from the restaurant (it accepts coins, while the green/ blue one in front of the restaurant only accepts cards, but for some reason it wont accept my visa from a foreign bank). Overall, it was a pleasant evening, in a nice environment, eating great food. I will definitely recommend a visit.More
