One of the better pubs in Whitchurch, a moderate selection of well kept real ale. Food is good quality and large quantities, no fancy stuff thank God. Surved food on a Sunday evening. I was not impressed by the posters on in ceiling in the bar area, but then I am an old ____.

A friend wanted to treat me to a meal and asked me to recommend somewhere in Whitchurch. I had absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Black Bear. Please see my previous visit review. To return and receive the equally good service from very pleasant friendly staff, quality meal, for a very reasonable price in lovely warm surroundings confirms that my... More

Called here in the off chance , quirky place , they served Shropshire lager and it was good . I ordered the Thai curry and it was without doubt better than any Indian I've ever had .

We had moored up close by and walked into town. We arrived at 5.30 and straight away staff were friendly and helpful and the food was out of this world. The larger and beer were varied too. Will definitely be back again. The place it's self was quaint and warm and welcoming.

Love eating in this place. As locals, this is our trusty dinner date location. Great home cooked food at very reasonable prices and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Menu tends to stay the same, but this is what we like about it!

Traveled for 10 days eating at Pubs, mostly fish and chips. The fish and chips here were BY FAR the BEST. A must try. Closed on Monday's.

Hi Andrew A, Many thanks for your comments and our team are really glad you enjoyed your visit. We are however open Monday's, lunchtime and evening, I think when you visited it was the same day we had a family funeral, so apologies there. Hope you call again, Cheers, Mark More

This is a family favourite . Staff are friendly with very reasonable priced drinks and food, food is excellent and great quality - very often will be able to cater for large groups at a moments notice. Staff remember who you are and what you drink , a regulars place and welcoming to new faces. Pool table, darts, juke box.... More

We went with family who have just moved to Whitchurch. What a lovely find. The menu was different from your 'normal' pub, curried sausage roll, pumpkin, potato and cumin soup, to name but 2 starters! Sticky ginger and black pepper pudding too! All very tasty and really good portion sizes. Couldn't fault the food. One of the main courses was... More
