Dacre is a beautiful little village. This is the only pub. They don't accept cards, only cash. Full pub grub menu but limited availability when we visited - not even soup. So ordered scampi, chips and peas thinking it wouldn't be hard to go wrong. After a long wait peas overcooked like bullets, chips warm, scampi cold and undercooked. In... More

Avoid this place, you can do better. No real ale – something about a non-delivery. I doubt this very much, breweries love delivering beer in my experience. Work the rest out yourself. Food was limited to bacon and sausage butties (for lunch?) a toastie and maybe a jacket potato. There were no customers, it looked untidy and unclean. We left.... More

Ordered bacon butties along with drinks. Food took 40mins to arrive. Soggy bap (water from a very poor salad soaked into said bap). Some beers were off and seemed to be a problem with the gas. Tried to pay using card, only to be told card reader was not working - something to do with lawn mower and cables? Someone... More

Friendly pub that offers a standard food menu. There's a good selection of pies which I recommend and the remainder of the menu looks fine. Good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I've come out of Trip Advisor semi-retirement to present two startlingly different reviews on my dining experience in the Northern Lake District this week. One place gave me the very, very best dining I've had for a long time, the other the most vile food I've been dished up for years. People who have seen my reviews know that I... More

Walking distance from Keswick, we stayed here in April and loved the view to the west , fields across the road. In the morning Royal Air Force jets practicing in the mts. Great breakfast in lovely old room, and a good simple lunch or two.

If walking in this part of the Northern Lakes, this pub serves a good wholesome Sunday lunch for a very reasonable price. Good wholesome food, no frills and very tasty.

We ordered a full breakfast and goats cheese, squash and spinach pie. Both meals were awful. The breakfast tasted like it was all fried in old oil. The pie crust was chewy and probably microwaved before having the crust crisped. The accompanying chips were not good either and the peas were hard. £10.25 for the pie too! We really wished... More
