We did visit on a very cold wet night in February, not been in Cottage of Content for over 20 years. I guess really it is a pub that does meals, but all tables laid for food and a very small bar area. It had a certain amount of charm and quaintness, but very rustic.Menu was good, although a couple... More

We were passing this Inn on a Sunday Lunch time. The place looked so welcoming so we popped in to see if we could have Lunch. We were greeted by pleasant and helpful staff and quickly seated in the restaurant. A menu to cater for all tastes and also catered for gluten free. The food and service were five star... More

We were supposed to be going Horse Racing, cancelled early Sunday morning & although the Cottage was fully booked, Richard managed to fit us in late on. Excellent meal as usual, home made GLUTEN free pate ( my wife is Coeliac ) & roast lamb. The Cottage serves two excellent local bitters, Wye Valley Butty Bach ( 4.5% ) &... More

Had a pre- Christmas Sunday lunch here. The trustworthy Good Pub Guide had made it pub of the year nationally so worth travelling the country miles to sample a very good Sunday lunch. Atmospheric gastro pub with good choice of ales and ciders. We enjoyed starters of soup and a tian of crab and prawns followed by belly pork and... More

Lovely rustic location in a rural idyll. However, the lack of investment in the property was immediately obvious on arrival. Our small, rather 'pokey' room had outdated furniture in various states of neglect. No shower in the bathroom and NO hot water in the bath!! Also no wifi - fairly standard these days. The main dining area just looked shabby... More

Over the past few months 'the cottage' has become a regular eating destination for me. A lovely cosy little gem nestled in the Herefordshire countryside. Fantastic food, lovely real fires and a nice atmosphere.

Family Christmas in Hoarwithy. Having regaled my husband, father in law and step-son with memories of my childhood in Hereford and knowledge of local pubs I took them to the "Cottage" as it was one of my favourite pubs back in the day. What a joy that the current owners have continued the high standard of food, service and the... More

We visted the Cottage on a warm day in August with some occasional lunchtime dining friends. Sitting in the small garden at the front of the Cottage is simply the perfect bucolic experience. The dining area is smart and traditional, an excellent combination. The lunch menu was varied and offered the opportunity to try some unusual dishes. Good value for... More

Went for Sunday Lunch last weekend. Herefordshire Roast Beef, just perfect. Good local real ale & reasonably priced wine list. Need to book a table for Sunday. Back soon

My wife and I recently enjoyed a meal and overnight stay at the Cottage of Content - a birthday treat which was very much enjoyed by us both. It's straightforward to find once you know how - just three miles or so off the A49, and to say that it nestles in deepest Herefordshire would really be an understatement! So,... More
