It seemd a really nice place with a good review. If you have dietery restrictions it might not be your place. Vegetarian options were non existing as a main cours only fish, wich was delicious tough. Champion soup was also only available with meatballs. We...where off season but they did not offer much witouth meat. The stuff was nice but it seemd like they did us a favour. Overall not a bad experience maybe during summer it is different.More

This place has a really lovely Atmosphere and the staff are nice and always at your service. You need to try out this place when in Badacsony. Their gulyás is really good and they have amazing wines 🍷 This is the third time that we...will eat/drink at this place during our stay in Badacsony. I highly recommend this place ❤️😍🍷More

The food was good. We were a group of six and every person was very satisfied. The food is relatively sophisticated and elegant. Everything was cooked well. Overall, no major complaints. Portions were large and filling. The shots of Palinka were a bit expensive.

Came here for a quick dinner, had no reservation, but the staff was so kind and got us a table in no time :) Our meals were incredibly tasty, so much like a nice home cooked meal at my grandma's. Service was very fast and...polite, price was very normal and they even invited us for a glass of wine at their wine cellar next door for free. I recommend them, delicious.More

The cuisone is fantastic, tasteful, but it doesn’t want to win over the hungry visitor by serving a visual composition with an unusual and somewhat forced blend of flavor and texture, but giving it what it takes. The green pea soup is rich and delicious...with dumplings, the cottage cheese sliver is classic, the top is crispy baked in the oven, inside just the right proportions of cottage cheese, sour cream, bacon, and the dough melts in the mouth. No extravaganza, nothing exaggerated: but full attention and expertise. Fans of today’s modern fusion cuisine shouldn’t stumble though, it’s not a roadside inn! The gray beef burger in this category, for example, also gives it to such gourmets, which has to be put there, just as the cottage cheese dumplings have taken on a modern shape. But still, if one wants domestic flavors, it can be solved. And that’s a big word, since in 95 out of 100 kitchens today, the chef is unable to deviate from “ready meals”. Most importantly, the master of the kitchen has already been mentioned, but the waiters also appear as fresh in this world today, as if they had learned the profession and were also dedicated. They understand their job and meanwhile they are polite and kind but not intrusive. Excessively and overly complacent, the complaining guest is also dismantled, everyone leaves satisfied. About the infrastructure yet: so many promising restaurants are failing on this. In general, the toilette of a restaurant is like the mirror of the place. Just a glimpse on these facilities in a restaurant and we know what to expect. Here, this is also in place and okay. Clean, equipped, fragrant, designer but usable. 9.8 points on my very strict scale!More

People with food sensitivities or dietary restrictions: do not trust this restaurant to deliver what you ordered. I have celiac disease, so I was looking for a restaurant that could guarantee gluten-free meals. This restaurant was listed on a couple of Hungarian-language websites as offering...gluten-free options, so I contacted them to confirm. I consulted with the chef of the restaurant over the phone two days in advance of my visit in Badacsonytomaj. He assured me that they can prepare meals fully gluten-free environment (i.e., using gluten-free ingredients, and using separate areas and utensils during meal prep to avoid cross-contamination.) He asked me to send the restaurant my orders ahead of time, so they can be prepared to deliver my gluten-free items. Completely reassured, I sent an email to the restaurant detailing my order and explaining again that the meals listed need to be prepared free of gluten. The restaurant confirmed my pre-order over email. When me and my friends arrived at the restaurant two days later, at the time of our booking, I told the waiter that I would like to order the gluten-free items that I cleared with the chef two days in advance. The waiter told me that he cannot serve the appetizer I ordered, because they are out of gluten-free bread. Then he served my entree without one of the side dishes indicated in the description, claiming that since that side dish is prepared in a frying pan, it would have been cross-contaminated. (This, again, after the chef assuring me that they could prepare the meals I ordered using separate pans, oil. etc, as long as I sent my order ahead of time.) Overall, it was a big disappointment.More

I ate at this famous restaurant about 20 years ago, when the place was a go-to landmark with a lovely folksy atmosphere, and genuinely good traditional Hungarian food served in a beautiful and clean environment. But over the past few years it has evolved into...a most pretentious eatery, serving ever more outlandish dishes, such as a salads packed into a glass jar, impossible to eat properly. And the yummy traditional dessert called turos gomboc - a curd filled dough, finished off by rolling in toasted breadcrurmbs is now served "naked" without the breadcrumbs in effort to be "on trend". despite the fact that the breadcrumbs are a major feature in the recipe. This "on trend" agenda is evident inside, where the soft lighting from previous times had been replaced by some of the most glaring and unpleasant light fittings I have ever seen in a restaurant, reminiscent more of a police interrogation room. I am all for keeping up with the times, and making changes, but the poor owner should have had more reliable interior decorating advice, as well as stricter control over the pretentious waiters who seem to think they are doing everybody a favour by serving them Sadly, it is now no longer a restaurant I would recommend to anybody, except to maybe eat outdoors in good weather, and to choose your menu very carefully. I strongly suggest crossing the lake to Balatonmáriafürdő, where you can sit by the harbour at the local Port Restaurant, and enjoy excellent local and world cuisine, served politely and in a beautiful setting. I had one of the best duck dishes there, ever, and with none of the silly nonsense of the Borbarátok, which has gone off the rails in an effort to be unusual or original.More

We were here in August 2019. The wine was good, the food hardly average, and "touristic" made (all of our friends who were here as a tourists are heavily enthused. Service very nice. The prices are high (higher than other Balaton, inclusive fine-dining) It is...okay to visit once a time, but not to return regularly.More

I had heard good things about the restaurant but we went and I wasn't too impressed. I had duck with gnocchi. The worst thing was that the duck wasn't pink, which is a crime in a restaurant trying to serve a little bit higher level...food. The gnocchi wasn't bad, but nothing special, and I could have eaten more. The children's food was nothing special, possibly frozen chips. The service was solid, but a little slow and stiff.More

We stayed at this pension for two nights. As of the meals, we had half board included, which means that we ate both dinner and breakfast twice in the restaurant. Breakfast was good, the nice lady who works in the kitchen prepared fresh eggs for...us every morning. Besides there was more food to chose from in buffet-style, even though there were just a few guests there. We were surprised how big choice we had for dinner as half-pension guests. All the dishes we tried were very tasty, nicely presented, and the portions were pretty large too. Service was very good as well. The restaurant itself, just like the pension, is a mixture of modern and traditional style which we liked a lot. My only suggestion would be to have less bright lights in the evenings, which would make the atmosphere much cozier.More

We had dinner here with a group of 6 adult friends. Some of our food was excellent, some was great, but served cold, and some of ours were just OK. The fish-soup (halászlé) was not nice at all. We tried 3 types of the house...wine. All the three were really poor quality, very disappointing in this great wine-region. Prices were rather highMore
