Don’t look any further - what a great find and exceptional meal with friendly service. Want to come back

Pleasant setting for this small restaurant, tables both inside and out, a very friendly welcome and helpful, prompt service. Good wine selection and prices what you might expect in this part of the world, that is to say, quite high, particularly with the current exchange...rate being what it is - and dinner being a la carte. Cash only, note. We had two starters, two mains and a bottle of white wine which came to 76 Euros. Endives in a Roquefort sauce were lovely. The pile of deep-fried shrimp, allegedly a speciality, were a picture on the plate served in a kind of origami poppadom, but, accompanied by some flavourless runny salsa and a dressed lettuce leaf, were nothing special in the mouth. Squid ink risotto served with one grilled king prawn was pleasant, but not memorable (and pricey for what is essentially black rice pudding). The swordfish was grilled satisfactorily but the accompaniments were odd: a single boiled potato with some courgette tagliatelle, plus mini courgettes cut lengthways, and more of the runny salsa, which altogether was just....meh - as other reviewers have described it - a flavourless swamp on a plate. Rather surprised that previous comments to this effect have not been listened to by the management. Declining to risk further disappointment with the pudding selection, we paid and left and probably wouldn't bother to return. We were expecting something outstanding, with flavours to surprise and excite the palate; if this is the best that Sete has to offer, as some have claimed, then perhaps better to eat in another town?More

The food is extremely good quality and the outdoor seating is the best place to sit. Have eaten here a couple of times. Slightly on the pricey side in my opinion but that’s for you to decide.

The restaurant deserves its positive reviews. Yes some reviewers had issues with the vegetables to the side - namely courgette - and the consistency but do not let that distract you. We had the mixed seafood grill & the tuna steak and both were outstanding....Good wine and dessert selection too, the dessert which was a tart was amazing and I am not a dessert fan... Service was prompt and friendly, just note that urs cash only. The setting in side street on the terrace is perfect for a balmy summers night. Will return!More

Most of the dishes had the main element cooked well, but the vegetables and sides were all the same sloppy texture; 3 sprigs of chives/crisp thing do not constitute a texture! My food disappeared into a mush after a couple of mouthfuls. The duck was...overcooked (asked for medium, got well done) and was not rendered properly. i know my duck - I live in the heart of the Perigord Noir. The restaurant is primarily a fish restaurant, but the other 3 diners all had mixed opinions on their fish or seafood dishes. The oysters were good (not much to get wrong there) and the swordfish was also good. Corgettes are plentiful at this time of year but making them into tagiatelli is unintereesting and flavourless and results in a swamp on the plate. The square plates are attractive but unfortunately the cutlery always falls into the edge and therefore into your food. We are coming back to Sete but not to this restaurant.More

Delicious food - les chipi, tuna and squid ink risotto were excellent. Lovely little restaurant with pleasant service, seems to be a favourite amongst locals - recommend booking in advance. Great portion sizes. Be warned: cash only!

This is a lovely little spot - I arrived without a reservation for dinner, but was seated outside right away. The server was fantastic and explained the dishes in English for me. I had the oysters first (very meaty) with a dry white wine. I...ordered the grilled tuna for my main and it was extremely over-cooked (completely grey inside and hard). I never send food back, but I should have. The chocolate cake dessert at the end was good. My total was 35 euros.More

We had read the reviews and Le mistral deserved all the praise. As you would expect, fish dominates the menu and is cooked with subtlety. Everything was delicious and interesting. We started with an asparagus veloute and a tatin d'endive followed by cod en croute...and a risotto with squid. We were told that the menu changes slowly.More

The restaurant to go to in Sete. You should book the night before at least if you wanted to make sure to get the seat outside during the peak season in the summer. Very good menu and the cooking as well as the friendly owners.

We have eaten at this wonderful restaurant twice in the past few days. It is an amazing place with excellent food. The atmospere is really great, with front of house staff who are helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. Their menu is wonderful with such tasty...delights. We would eat here every week if we lived nearer! Well worth a visit but please note you need to book or you maybe disappointed.More

Hi, we book once we were in Sete, it's a lovely walk along the promenade to the Resturant. Go a few days before to book, it's worth the effort. Enjoy
