Excellent location, great burgers, alcohol, sit beside the train and enjoy all the children and tourists laughing on their train ride through the Gorge to WAIHI.

A most wonderful, unpretentious gourmet foodie experience tucked away in a Latvian- style architectural jewel box in a lush and verdant jungle. Ingredients locally sourced and absolutely divine. Don't miss their great wines to accompany the inspired cuisine. I had a dinner here today that will remain in my memory forever. Thank you, Horst and Karen!

A delightful spot tucked away in the hillside above Karangahake reserve. The food was amazing with generous portions and full of flavor. The degustation was very nice and the full variety of the wines were sweet as

Simply amazing, best degustation and food I have ever had. We had delicious fresh succulent seafood chowder and pasta of the day, prawn linguini accompanied by a wonderful degustation of all the wines, Gewuerztraminer was my favourite. Honestly best food I have ever had and the wine was just gold.

Good food and service but a bit tight around the tables but worth a visit. All in all rather nice. Make sure you get good directions

Thanks you very much for outstanding service last weekend. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard to capture the spring air. The buildings are unique and interesting to say the least. The wines were not dry like the man said but outstanding, my pick would be the Sav. Chowder amazing, flounder out of this world. We thank you

This winery is well sign posted on the main road but one must wind up the hill and down again to visit this secluded venue about a 10 minute walk 2 minutes in the car.The restaurant has a nice ambience , a view out over the charming courtyard to the hills of Karangahake Gorge. We arrived as a group of... More

The freshness of the food, the very personable hosts, the beautifully plated generous servings sets this restaurant apart. The degustation platter was simply exquisite; there were more than 14 dipping sauces, the widest range of meats, cheese's and the Olives were genuinely fresh all accompanied by a platter of crispy slices of french bread. The walnut cheese with the beetroot... More

Breathtaking service & amazing food. We got the Sav Blanc wine & was very easy, delicious drinking. The service was very personable and were treated like we were special guests. Would rate this as one of my top restaurant experiences ever.

The Estate is in the heart of the Karangahake Gorge. It is only 200 meters from the tunnel portal of the main walking/cycle trail and has its own access from there. It could not be easier. The Karangahake end of the Gorge offers fantastic tracks, many of them loops of differing lengths. There is a huge amount of history and scenic attraction in the area and the winery and restaurant are a well-deserved treat. Karyn, the chef, prepares wonderful gourmet food, which complements Horst's lovely range of wines. The summer garden setting is relaxed and peaceful and a wonderful interlude between walking or biking. In winter there is an open fire. Platters, full or light meals are available
