Absolutely lovely. The cakes were delicious, though we didn't manage them all in one sitting!! The sandwiches were were fresh, and full of lovely fillings. All beautifully presented in a lovely box. So very very enjoyable. Thank you Dotty!

Had an afternoon tea takeout on Monday 16th. Lovely array of sandwiches/ scones/ cakes. As it's lockdown, took the beautifully wrapped box over to my mum's house and we ate in her living room. Great idea!!!

Our lovely neighbours kindly arranged an afternoon tea delivery to celebrate our wedding. It was one of the best ever delivery experiences I have had from the courteous taxi driver who delivered it to the way it was boxed up, to the taste and variety...of the ingredients. Having read the lovely accompanying booklet we got out the table linen and vintage china; unearthed a cake stand and a teapot ; put up some lights and opened another wedding present ( pink fizz) to accompany it. It was just the most perfect experience and provided a good two hours plus escapism from what’s currently happening. There were cheese, ham, coronation chicken, cucumber and egg mayonnaise sandwiches, followed by scrumptious scones with jam and cream and then a selection of wonderful cakes - cup cakes; brownies ; mini lemon meringue pies; macaroons and lemon drizzle cake together with loose leaf tea and strawberries. Needless to say we didn’t need dinner or breakfast. I now know where to go for friends’ birthday and celebratory experiences.More

Afternoon tea delivered to the door and collection - wonderful idea and beautifully done. The sandwiches, cakes and scones are all freshly made and delicious, plus there is more than enough to go around. You just want to dive straight in :) A real treat...and a lovely way to enjoy time with family (even if over a video call). Will definitely be back again soon!More

A lovely experience. The food was amazing - lovely bread for the sandwiches, freshly made scones with proper clotted cream, apple tart with crispy, thin pastry, macarons, homemade cupcakes and other little delights. Thoughtful catering and an activity page for children too. A real highlight...for Autumn. Will definitely be back!More

I’ve been many times here and it was one of my favourite places, but my last visit left me feeling very uncomfortable as a coeliac. When I explained I was coeliac, the waitress looked confused and asked another waitress to help us. This waitress sat...down with us and asked how she could help. I explained my order and I’d like gluten free bread. She asked if it was an intolerance or allergy and I said I was coeliac. She then asked how sensitive I was to gluten. I was disappointed in this as I felt she should know all coeliacs can’t have any gluten at all. I explained I couldn’t have even a crumb and was very sensitive. The waitress then said we cook with a lot of flour in our kitchen. I said as long as they weren’t throwing flour over my food and were careful. She nodded but looked unsure and then asked if I had my epi pen with me. I explained I was coeliac so didn’t have an epi-pen- this is an autoimmune condition. I was disappointed she didn’t know what coeliac was as she was advising us, and alarmed that she felt my chance of being glutened was high. I was tempted to leave but decided to stay as whenever I have been before I have been reassured that Dottys are careful with cross contamination. I asked if the chipotle ketchup was gluten free and the waitress didn’t know and obviously wasn’t going to check so I just said I’ll have it without. The staff were friendly and the food was nice, and on my request they did clean the knife to cut the gluten free cake, but I was left feeling very uncomfortable. I do understand a kitchen can’t guarantee anything is 100% gluten free, but I was given the impression they aren’t careful at all. There was also a lack of knowledge from the staff about what coeliac actually is. To serve ‘gluten free’ food that apparently isn’t gluten free in terms of cross contamination is a real shame, and I was disappointed as this hasn’t been my experience previously. I have emailed my feedback but have received no response a week later.More

I cannot recommend Dotty’s tea room enough. I booked for me and my sister to have afternoon tea, she is currently pregnant so I asked for more info regarding what fillings are in the sandwiches etc. Staff were kind enough to call me and make...sandwiches that weren’t on the menu so that my sister could have some which we were really appreciative of. The decor is so stunning and sweet and the staff are fabulous, very attentive and polite. The afternoon tea itself was incredible. There were such a variety of cakes, sandwiches and the scones were out of this world. Everything was so fresh and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be returning in the futureMore

Been here beginning of the year. Great service, sandwiches, cake and coffee all very nice.It looks as though the other lady has gone and a new chap has taken over. Sadly we were there this week but it seems to have changed. We had 2...baguettes, Looked very nice, but turned out to be all baguette and not much else. The bread was very large but all the filling was on top and when opened was empty just a piece of lettuce underneath. Would have been nice to put a fork on the plate to eat the salad with. Come on Dotty's, you can do better!More

My friend and I came across Dotty's online and while it took a while to navigate on my phone I found their Alice in Wonderland's Afternoon Tea menu, which had a really intriguing menu. Booking online was easy but wasn't obvious where you pick that...you were having afternoon tea or where you pay the 50% in advance they request on the menu, so this had to be done over email and phone after I booked. We arrived and our table had an Alice in Wonderland plaque with all the characters and artificial grass, which was a cute extra. Then the tower arrived after a lovely little strawberry milkshake and was packed with treats. The cheese scones with chutney were a really great idea - more afternoon teas should have them! All the cakes were really delicious, although I thought the eclairs might have been a bit different due to the menu description. The teapots you get are super quirky too. The menu also says you can add prosecco but you can't FYI - no alcohol served on the premises. We'd definitely go back again or to their other sister teahouse in Coulsdon.More

I think they would but ring and check and if they know I am sure they will help with that. They are very accommodating to dietary needs.
