When we visited, the restaurant had holiday decorations and it looked cute. The food, unfortunately, was mostly bland, sometimes lacking taste and sometimes- balanced combinations. Potato cream soup was quite tasteless and the shrimp on top of it had a strong fishy smell. Beef tartare...was nice on its own but pappa al pomodoro didn’t make much sense there and cheese was overcoming the meat. Pasta with truffle had so little truffle that after two forks you were just eating pasta with butter (which was housemade and good, but truffle appeared strictly for a decoration). I tried friend’s risotto and it was not salty enough. Pâté from another friend was inedible (she left half of that chicken course untouched). What was great (and also interesting) is tortelli with liquid carbonara inside! Though the sauce contained mushrooms and you couldn’t feel it. Luckily, everybody seemed to appreciate the dessert. Tiramisu lollipops were certainly a success and I really loved my “torta meringata al limone”. An apple with cinnamon and gelato was good as well.More

We had excellent service! It was a random week day, and the restaurant was not crowded at all. The waiter spoke excellent English and gave us recommendations. The food was so delicious, probably the fanciest food we had during our 8 day trip in Italy....Nothing better than saffron chantilly creme cannolis! And reasonably priced.More

Very good restaurant, fresh Italian food - my husband had a pasta dish to start with and charred grilled tuna, I had the loin pork with truffle cooked perfectly and cannoli for dessert which was the best I’ve had anywhere (apart from Sicily). Service was...good if just a little slow, the waiter recommended some excellent local wine.More

Cute spot in Assisi where we enjoyed a lovely dinner. Plating and service was top notch and it was a great first meal for our trip to Italy. Some of the pasta dishes were lacking a little flavor but the overall atmosphere, service and other...dishes more than made up for it. Great wine selection in a variety of price categories.More

Our group had a delicious meal there today. The pasta was fabulous, the wine was smooth, the salad was crisp and I'd eat there again in a heartbeat. The owner is gracious, the prices are good, the menu is varied and the decor was tasteful....If anyone is in the area and looking for amazing Italian food. Try Valerie's.More

It was our first time in Assisi! This restaurant was recommended by the staff at the Grand Hotel. It was delicious from the wine(from the Umbrian region), to the appetizer, to the pasta, to dessert! This beautifully decorated restaurant is lovingly serviced by 3 generations....We met Grandma, Mom and Son who each made our meals with love and care. It was such a fabulous experience! If you are in the area, this place must be on your list! If I’m ever lucky enough to find myself in Assisi again, you can be sure Ristorante Valerie will be on my list. Grazie!More
