This used to be an amazing cafe with great coffee, delicious food and kitsch decor go to being just ok. Floors need a good scrub, looks like an average diner and staff unhelpful and unfriendly. Cost cutting obvious here, should have left it how it was instead of penny pinching on ingredients as it shows.

You can tell how good a cafe is when it is bustling with customers at 9.30 in the morning. They serve great burgers too

Unfortunately another Whanga Café that seems to have gone a bit downhill. Food below average, coffee average and place desperately needed a clean and spruce up. Has definitely lost its appeal. The cluttered dirty corner & old sofa is so unappealing (looks filthy). Not very busy this time & I'd say the food quality means less customers. Extremely slow service... More

40 minute wait for 2 cappachinos and a hot choc. And when they came they were wrong. Another 15mins for a correction! We asked for a refund but they said they were 2 mins away.. Yea right! We understand it was busy but they should've stopped orders till they caught up. Staff were obviously stressed but no need to take... More

We have a family with 10 week old twins and a 21 month old who needed feeding. The staff were exceptional, moving tables for us, even helping nurse the twins after their meal, cannot praise this enough, absolutely superb, thank you so much 😎

The young girl behind the counter was absolutely lovely- that's why this place is up in stars. I got the roast vege salad which was decent, my partner got the nachos. Bad choice. The mince was low-grade & fatty. It came with the dregs of a bag of corn chips- all the crushed up ones from the bottom with a... More

We went to the Lazy Lizard for brunch after seeing it listed in Trip Advisor. There was only one table of people in when we got there on Saturday morning which we thought was strange if it was such a great cafe but the place filled up around us. The service wasn't amazing, the staff seemed a bit "over it"... More

Went to the lazy Lizard several times while at Brits at the Beach over four days. Always nice service and very good coffee. The banana and walnut muffin was best ever. So nice to have a fresh baked muffin as opposed to those nuked steaming wet offerings so common at cafés

This place has definitely lost its reputation for one of the best cafes in Whangamata. Stopped in this week, coffee burnt, service next to none what's happened ???? We have been here a few times over the past few months and experienced amazing and helpful service, the best coffee and spectacular food especially the eggs on the eggs benedict!!! Admittedly... Still sampling the coffee places in whanga to find a regular place to visit and if I am being honest don't think this will be our coffee fix destination. Two flat whites. One was just average and other was slightly burnt. Nice effort made with the little biscuit but just a 5/10 for the coffee and we need more than... More
