We had tobook an early slot in order to get a table so I had expected a lot from the venue, however when we walked into the pub I didn't feel the ambience was exceptional in the least. Bar in the middle and tables all along down the side, typical small old pub. Waitress was quite young and therefore I... More

This was the second time we had visited The Orange Tree, and I was a bit worried that this visit wouldn't live up to the high standards set on our last visit - but I need not have been concerned, everything about the evening was wonderful. We were greeted by friendly staff and served quickly. The menu has something for... More

We hadn't visited the Orange Tree in a while, so decided to go for lunch. As always we were greeted with a warm smile and Tom was as charming as ever. It's so nice when the owner spends time speaking to his guests, makes it very personal. The menu and specials board were so mouth watering that we struggled to... More

This was our first visit for my husband's birthday dinner. We weren't disappointed. Usually we would travel into London for a nice meal but with this little gem only 15 minutes from home we don't need to anymore! We started with the homemade bread which was warm - hmm delicious! I had the Scotch egg starter which was amazing ,... More

I live on the doorstep of this amazing pub and hadn't realised until recently how it has developed over the past couple of years into such an amazing place to eat and relax. I have enjoyed lunch with friends a few times in the past month and the food never disappoints. I eat fish but not meat and there is... More

Visited this pub on a lovely Sunday afternoon. It's just a short drive from East London and is well worth it. Menu is extensive and offers great selection of traditional pub dishes as well as european classics. They also offer daily specials. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Very welcoming and good service. I would definitely want to visit again.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to the orange tree yesterday, I had the scotch egg and he had the mackerel as a starter, mine was one of the nicest things I've ever eaten, that was until my shoulder of mutton arrived.......absolutely delicious, I could have eaten 10 of the enormous potato rostis it came with so yummy....however... We have been to the Orange Tree once before and really enjoyed the food and service, so we went back for Sunday lunch taking family with us this time. Sadly it wasn't very nice at all and we felt a bit embarrassed that we took our guests there. I can only imagine they must have had a change of chef... More

Hi "Redbull" We were really disappointed to read this review. I remember your table well and was under the impression when we checked back that much of your food was satisfactory (we don't aim for just "satisfactory" but in the absence of any complaint we'd assumed all was well). I remember being called back later and one of the group... More

We visited this evening as we had heard good things about the restaurant. We were seated at around 8.15 as expected and ordered around 15 minutes later. The restaurant was very busy but our sense was that this was usual for a Friday evening. Only I had a starter and this came reasonably quickly. It was potted crab and it... More

Hi Bram, thank you for taking time to put your thoughts here. Glad you liked the Crab and your Pie. The Potted Cromer Crab is a cold starter so you would expect that to be served fairly quickly even on a busy evening. Our home made Pies however have a 25-30 minute cooking time so I guess it may have... More

Description
Our food is freshly cooked by talented chefs using seasonal and local ingredients wherever possible. Please feel free to ask where the produce is from as we take provenance very seriously. We cook our own breads, grow our own herbs and cook every dish from basic ingredients on the premises. We take pride that our dishes sometimes take longer to cook than other establishments as they are cooked to order and plated with pride. The place is family-run, relaxed, casual dining in a clean, bright environment. You are welcome to enjoy our large gardens and patio areas. Dogs welcome in the garden but must be on leads. Children welcome lunchtimes and Sundays. We hope you visit soon.
