My family and I had the chance to go eat at La Belle Epoque during our last trip to France. The food is great! If you want to eat the best Cassoulet with its duck confit, you have to go eat in this family-owned restaurant. The parents and now their son have put their heart and soul in their signature... We were attracted to the restaurant by reviews of its cassoulet (the signature dish of Castelnaudary). Everyone else lunching there seemed to have the same idea. We were not disappointed. It is slightly difficult to find as it is on the fringe of the town. The menu at 26 euros represents good value, and wine by the glass is sensibly priced... More

La Belle Epoque was our 2nd attempt at finding a good cassoulet and boy did it deliver. Rich but not heavy with a lovely crunch on top. My partner's lamb was cooked just right, pink and juicy.

Nice restaurant, plain decor but welcoming. Does have a couple of outside seating. Good menu but half of it wasn't available the night we visited. Staff friendly and helpful, chef popped round after dinner to see if we enjoyed. Can't complain about the food, but for 4 people it cost €155 without wine or coffees...which we thought was quite over... More

We were 3 couples travelling in France and enjoying French cuisine was a big part of that journey so we ate out most days. We really enjoyed our experience at this restaurant and Jean Pierre, the owner was a big part of that. He spoke no English at all yet somehow we all conversed and had so much fun in... More

Have now eaten here four times; twice last year and twice, recently. This is partly because two of my husband's favourite dishes are available here: herring and potato salad for a starter and rognons (kidneys). We've also enjoyed the cassoulet. My steak was perfectly cooked, as was my lamb (pink - just how I like it!). This is the most... More

Ate dinner for two, everything was ok, but nothing was very special for the price. Paid 110 Euro for two courses and wine. The wine as a very nice Minervois, but the veal and steak entrees were average and the vegetables were disappointing. OK, but better options available.

We visited here by chance as the restaurant we wanted to visit was closed. It was pretty busy, but service was still good. There are set menus in most restaurants and this restaurant was the same. I had the quiche to start, which was served warm and was delicious! The veal for main was also lovely with a creamy sauce.... More

We dined here for an evening meal, having a set menu, with my partner having a regional specialty set menu (cassoulet). Both meals were just average in quality. The desserts that came with the set menu were quite ordinary. Even more disappointing was the service. The waitress went through the motions, but made no effort to help us with the... More

As our favorite restaurant was closed we decided we would try here. We weren't disappointed. The food was good. The service was ok. we felt a little rushed. once we had finished a course the plates were swiftly removed and quickly on to the next. Whilst this is good if time is a little short and you have somewhere to... More
