We enjoyed a dinner for two and were very much fund of the whole concept. It was wintertime, so we din't get the chance to dine on the riverside terrace that would make this place even more unique. Winelist is interesting and priced reasonably for...the establishment. Table next to us had a dog accompagnying them, which is good to know (as we like to visit the region with our dog ourselves from time to time).More

This is my third visit to Kalkoentje, I am well travelled, live in London and have visited great restaurants across the world and Kalkoentje is one of the best. And once again it did not disappoint! We had the seven course dinner suggested by the...Chef. Each course was a delight and of a size where we still managed to enjoy all seven courses without feeling too full. The bill was particularly reasonable considering the quality and service.More

Direct on the banks of the river Rhine, just 2 Miles outside Rhenen direction west, you'll find this cosey former farmhouse. Since 30 years it's a restaurant of the mid- to high class and would deserve 2 Michelin stars. For an unforgettable evening with your...loved one(s), just book a table and Nico and his Brigade will do the rest.More

Real star-cooking and excellent service. If you want to be pampered all evening and have an unique tasting experience, you should definitely go here. Nice ambiance. If the weather allows it, try to reserve a table outside with a nice outlook over the Rijn river.

What can I say. The view of the river is spectacular but the food and service are equally so. Had a great welcome and immediate seating and feeling like a member of the family. The 5 courses we had were all winners with both great...presentation but also great tastes. The dorado was incredible. The foie gras was just to die for. The confit young chicken leg just carried your tastes to a different height. Vanilla souffle was a cloud of taste in your mouth. Wines were very well selected. Service beyond GOOD . WE had eaten here 8 years ago and were not impressed. NOW it has taken itself to totally different level of excellence.More

Nice spring evening, excellent view! Even better food. Relaxed! Set menu, all top quality! Wines to go with that. Not all top, but interesting combinations with dishes.

Great reception for family of 4. Easy choice of menu as there’s 5 dishes to choose from. If you don’t like (which would be impossible in our view) they will create something for you. Best patisserie

At the spur of the moment, my husband remembered he was here 50 years ago and wanted to return to see if it was as good as half a century ago ( it was better!). And my friend had always wanted to go because her...step-family had celebrated all important events right there. I had never heard of the place.... We called, drove an hour and parked the car next to the hotel. We were welcomed by the boss, I was immediately enchanted by the view: the Rijn at our feet... How I longed for a warm summer evening and eat outside....Well, we will just have to come back in summertime. We were shown to a homely corner in the first room, where we were served two amuses. another party sat in front of the fireplace and a larger group in a different corner. Even before we drank our first sip our quiet dog was served fresh water and he loved it! So did we! How nice we did not have to leave him in the car, as we had expected to... On the contrary. "Boef" - as the restaurant boss referred to every dog - was given such a warm welcome! When we were invited to our table, the bread was warm and the Bubble water cold with even - as I had asked- a large amount of ice The dinner was exquisite -see pictures. We had a lovely evening. We asked for more bread I had to wait 14 minutes because that is how long it took to bake it! Soooo fresh - lovely...! We will look forward to returning here - at the other side of our country....More

It was a pleasure to have lunch here, not only the surroundings, the service and food is impeccable. We were treated with much attention and respect, meanwhile enjoying a wonderfully prepared surprise menu- the desert was fabulous. A souffle of red pepper with cardemon ice...cream- to die for. Will definitely come back! Highly recommended.More

Had a business dinner here with some collegues this week, and it has been the highlight of my trip. This little gem excels in every aspect - the food, the presentation, the location and the staff. The 5 course meal was more like 9 with...all of the little treats in between the courses the extra dessert with coffee and the "tart shot" at the end of the meal. The food was exceptionally well prepared and the menu thoughtful with interesting groupings. It was a dark rainy night, but you could still see how amazing the location was right on the Rhine. But the staff really made an impression. Not only did they meet me at the parking area with an umbrella, they stood in the street and let us know when it was safe to turn out (it's a difficult left). If you are ever anywhere in the area - this is worth the drive!More
