MICHELIN Bib Gourmand: Good quality, good value cooking
If you’re looking to eat somewhere special then look no further, as this restaurant occupies the house designed and decorated by the multi-faceted artist César Manrique for his brother. The decor here is simple but with a subtle maritime-inspired feel, but what stands out most of all are the magnificent views of the Playa de Famara, the surrounding mountains and, peering out across the ocean, the outline of the bucolic island of La Graciosa. Local fish and seafood as well as rice dishes are the main highlights on the menu, although we can also highly recommend the delicious daily specials. Best to book ahead as it is usually very busy!

June 30, 2024. We had lunch there on a cloudy afternoon. Installed window side we were able to enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. The welcome is not very warm but the service is well done. The smiles of the waiters arrive very slowly as the meal progresses. We thought we would only have a fish dish but the waitress made us understand that it was served with only a few potatoes. So we leave for a tuna tartare at €20.90. On a misunderstanding we are led only one tartare to share instead of one. Good, it's hearty; but it's also excellent! The €24.90 fish is coming. You should know that my wife and I do not especially like fish but we like to discover different cuisines. So the fish is coming. I don't know his species because the waitress didn't know its English name. So we're gonna call him Robert. It's a white-fleshed fish, served whole on the plate. I remind you that we do not especially like fish. And even though Robert had a nice smile, I was very embarrassed to see him smiling, on my plate, with his teeth and eyes. But hey, the flesh is not too bad and comes off easily even if many stops cut our legs a little. With mojo verde sauce it goes by itself. Comes dessert for my wife, a quesillo con ueces, and two espressos. Everything costs us 100,04€ (with an aperitif and a bottle of water). Salty addition compared to prices in Lanzarote, especially for fish. Bread is paid, 1.50€ per person; as much as putting free bread at the table without touching it is ridiculous, charging us 1.50€ per person is a bit embarrassing. I still recommend this restaurant, and especially to people who will appreciate the Roberts.

An old friend, who moved to the island a few years ago, recommended this restaurant to us for lunch, but after the visit we returned two days later for dinner and tomorrow it will triple! Small restaurant next to the sea with a view of the famera beach and an innate charm. We had the opportunity to taste many dishes and almost all of them are to be recommended: a sauté of mussels, clams and razor clams executed to perfection. A plate of prawns "a la plancha" served on salt, to die for. An off-menu based on tuna, potatoes and pieces of pineapple sautéed with a Pedro Ximénez of indescribable goodness. A dry, crunchy and delicious fried moray eel and potatoes. The "ropa vieja" to be savored until the last bite. A rice with carabineros with an intense and balanced flavour. I could continue with other dishes but the adjectives to describe them would be repetitive. The dignified cellar with local and foreign labels and some French bubbles which never hurts. The bill is in line with the category of the restaurant and the service. If you want to eat well in a quiet environment I highly recommend you stop by.

Without a doubt the visit went from less to more. When making the reservation they did not tell us that it would be on the mini terrace, something that would have been good to know beforehand. We sat down, it took them about 45 minutes to take our orders, but from then on, it was a very interesting gastronomic experience. We let ourselves be advised by the waiter, several dishes off the menu, at reasonable prices. Everything we ate was of high quality, well presented and with strong flavors. There were 4 of us and we all agreed that it was worth the wait and the trip. And by the way, you can pay with a visa!!

We booked a table for 3 in the restaurant El Risco but were told that due to works in the restaurant they shared a room in the restaurant Las dunas. To begin with the reservation was for 5 and there were 3. I asked on the phone that Cherne be reserved behind the back and grilled with garlic and chillies. On the spot we insisted that we wanted grilled fish with garlic and chillies. They brought us a fish to the bilbaine that was with juice. Nothing we asked for. The service's a mess. We ordered twice the wine, salt and pepper, another serving of wrinkled potatoes and they took a long time to bring it after ordering it several times. The only competent, friendly and helpful waitress was Manuela. When the bill came, we talked to the room manager about our dissatisfaction with the service and the dish ordered which was not at all the kind of cooking we had requested for the fish. The only solution he offered us was to offer us some shots as compensation. I’m not a person prone to post negative reviews, but in this case I haven’t felt so badly served in a while.

We had a reservation made for 3:00 p.m. (2 people), we arrived 10 minutes before the time and no one "greeted" us, so we asked and they told us that the table is still occupied and we have to wait (more than understandable). While we are outside, 2 couples come in and sit down. At 3:00 p.m. we go in and ask again about the reservation (again it is busy and we have to wait), a couple arrives with a reservation for 3:00 p.m. and seats them, 10 minutes later another couple arrives for 3:00 p.m. and goes inside. Now, angrily, we ask for explanations and they tell us that since we booked first they put us in the window (but our table is still occupied and it's 3:30 p.m.). They set up another table for us and we sit down at 3:45 p.m. They take our orders at 4:00 p.m. The arrival of the dishes is REGRETTABLE for supposedly a Michelin star, without a measly "explanation" of the dish. We order a fish and I ask the waiter/mere if he can explain a little about the fish there are (white, blue, similar to X fish... I don't know, the basics) and what he does is read me the menu. Anyway, so as not to repeat. The worst thing, we were in flip flops and shorts and I just want to believe and think that it is not a stale and classist restaurant in the era we are in and in the surf area where it is located.

We reserved a table at el risco and were told to go to to the sister restaurant dunas de famara. In principle not a problem because the place is nice from the inside as well. However, the service was really terrible - slow and inattentive. The food was very expensive, small portions, not served hot and nothing special. We do not understand how they can justify such a service offering. If you are looking for a bad experience we recommend to go to this place.

I begin the opinion with two phrases that reflect the experience very well: get fame and go to sleep and live off the income. We come every year on our holidays and can give a reliable assessment of how the service and quality has deteriorated. I booked 2 months ago because I wanted a table in the window and they sat us on a wall between both windows. I explained the request and the answer was that it was first come, first serve and there were tables of 2 free in the window. It took them 40 minutes to take the order and they took it beforehand to a table that arrived later. The food arrived 30 minutes later. So from the moment we arrived we spent 90 minutes to eat. We ordered limpets that were like chewing gum, we left them uneaten and they didn't even ask us why. We are Canarian and we know perfectly the texture and preparation of limpets. Pickled horse mackerel with a touch of vinegar that was completely unbalanced and old fried fish that was correct. Obviously we don't ask for anything except the bill. High prices that in the past were reasonable according to the quality and service. It is a shame that what was a paradise for us has now become a gastronomic and service disaster that we will not repeat or recommend, and it is a shame that they do not take care of their clientele.

Extremely disappointing service: We had reserved. They put us in the worst table in the restaurant, next to the bar and the entrance, with no views and with a horrible, loud background sound from the kitchen. We thought it was a joke. They promised to change us. After 10 minutes a table was free and they moved on to the tourists who had just sat next to us and without a reservation. We complained and the excuse was that "we had already ordered." When that doesn't matter and they hadn't told us about the detail before. We didn't even have food. The treatment was hilarious. It seemed like they were laughing in our faces. It was the small detail that we were "locals" and they cared more about tourists and their money. There were cockroaches and when we complained the waiter laughed and left. Without doing anything. We had to complain again because the cuca was already approaching the table. The "hot cheese" was cold and the dessert was tiny. The older waiter was laughing at the customers in front of others. We were very excited to try the place and ended up very disappointed. We will not recommend it.

The place is good especially for eating because it is next to the sea with a view of the Famara cliff The fish is good although the cooking is not excellent, for my taste they made too much of the sirloin and the horse mackerel and it tasted too much like mojo, distorting the flavor of the fish a little. The worst thing was that they charged us €75 more adding a bottle of wine, some prawns and a dessert that we didn't have. That's why we won't be back. We recommend paying attention to the account because this is the second time it has happened to us.

In a bit of a hurry and finishing the day, we decided to go to this restaurant thinking it had a Michelin star, then we realized that in Lanzarote there is no star except in the sky. When we sit down, the first thing they tell us is that they have 6 of the 15 dishes on their menu left. But they recommend 4 dishes off the menu. We are still looking for the wine list that we never found. We decided to have dinner with water. We order the tomato salad, white garlic and brunette chips, but the waiter tells us that we will be hungry and that we should order one more dish, at least. After thinking about it, we ordered the tartare (a dish not on the menu). A few minutes later he told us that they didn't have any left either. Morena, (there are already 7 dishes that they didn't have left) we decided to opt for some Navajas (also off the menu). Complimentary tasting of Villareal oil with 2 types of salts, but interrupted at the first bite by the first course. The Tartar lacked many ingredients to be a Tartar. The tomato salad or rather a split tomato and 4 pieces of cheese decorating the plate in the shape of a star and another surprise communicated by the waiter, they had no pine nuts left so they put almonds (raw, not even toasted) White Garlic, don't you know what? They didn't have any candied plum left and they added an apple and half a fig, even with its skin... And finally, the Navajas. What to say? A glob of oil and garlic on top, just as raw as the almonds (liquid came out when you took a bite) my partner could only eat one. Flavor of the sea and not of a razor. It was obvious that they wanted to provide quick service, we didn't finish the dish when the next one arrived. We finished as best we could and asked for the bill without asking for coffee or dessert... although we weren't going to have it, but it denotes very little business idea. And as a last surprise... an excessively high bill, €16 for the tomato salad, €20 for the Tartare and €24 for the Navajas, yes, €24. In the end, a total of €81 without wine or dessert. It's a shame that they don't realize, above all, the gastronomic criteria. They cannot charge those prices for the quality they offer. If we can say something good, half a piece of strawberry cut very small in the tomato salad that had very good flavor. We don't usually leave reviews of the places we go because of what it implies (anyone has a bad day) but this place deserves a change. P.S. Please let the owner not copy and paste the standard response and study why people don't come back. We are very sorry.

I returned to this restaurant because the first time I loved the rice and I have very good memories. Unfortunately this last time it was not like that. They didn't have our reservation because apparently the boss had taken it and I don't know where he had written it down. Afterwards, it took us a long time to bring the starter (there was no possible excuse, I'm a hotelier and I know the times) and when he asked the girl (quite dull to work in a place like that) she looked at me with an incredulous face as if the question had no meaning. place when he did have it. The rice was good but quite plain, nothing that stays in your memory, the broth had not acquired the flavor as it should, the carabineros were good. The passion fruit dessert was not very good either, there was not a good mix of the flavors of the cream with the fruit. Anyway, for what they charge you, that rice would have to be spectacular and tasty and the dessert a little more harmonious. The majestic Maitre and the waiter who brought us the wine were also very professional.

Horrible service. Slow. You leave without eating. They take 1 hour between courses, people get desperate. And it's not full. The food is not bad but the entire weight of the room falls on one person and the waiters do not provide table service, only drinks and bread. You can't ask them for anything, not even the bill. People were tired of waiting. Never more. There are better places in Famara

This is the first time in my life that I have posted a comment , but it seems to me that it is important .. Last night on this dream island, we wanted to try this restaurant that was apparently famous, and we booked... ..Very bad idea, after 2 minimalist starters, and for me the main course which bore a nice name but which was a handful of squid fritters without ANY accompaniment, a bottle of white wine and 2 toast, what was not the surprise to pay an ADDITION of 170 euros!!!! IT'S SHOCKING!!! Every day we eat in simple places and we came out with stars in our eyes, because the cuisine in Lanzarote is a delight, but this experience at Restaurant EL RISCO is a disappointment.. .Pass your way, do not "risk" it!!!

The place already welcomes you with a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful sea views. The staff guides you wonderfully and helps you choose the dishes. Everything was delicious, the fries "clean" and tasty, the fish fresh and well cooked. Let yourself be advised in the wine, you will succeed. Nice to have enjoyed your restaurant. Congratulations!

Excellent service, with very friendly and smiling staff. The view is absolutely stunning. They offer fresh seafood with daily specials depending on the catch. Although several dishes were missing from the menu, the very professional server explained everything to us and offered alternative options based on the day's fresh arrivals. A great spot to visit in Famara!
