Had it not been for the recommendation of the hotel where we stayed nearby, we would have never visited Enoteca Bengodi in the small commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga.

Castelnuovo Berardenga is an ideal starting point to explore Chianti Classico wines of the area. While you are there, you absolutely can't miss Enoteca Bengodi. The plate of local meats and cheeses is fabulous and the wine selection superb (and often refreshed). We really enjoyed all the pasta dishes (especially the heavenly tartuffo!) ... even more so with wine! The owner is helpful and talkative and always up for a wine challenge!

I love love loved this place , starting from the service to the food . Everything was amazing . The owner who was also our waiter was so helpful , and kind and provided us with the best wine and food suggestions. My husband and I look forward to going to this place again and again !

The best evening. The atmosphere was wonderful, the proprietor was so charming, the food and wine was delicious and the dishes brilliantly put together and inventive. I first came to this restaurant years ago and it’s lovely to see it thriving after the pandemic. It deserves all the stars. Definitely go.

Excellent food without having to sacrifice ambiance. It’s almost like you can’t go wrong with anything you order here. Everything from the fois gras, the tartar, and of course the Florentine was heavenly. They gave us wine recommendations from their extensive list to go with each meal and they didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is exactly what we were expecting of our visit in Tuscany (based on what we’ve seen in the moves :). Romantic yet friendly and casual at the same time. And the best part is that we didn’t have to break the bank to dine here. I’d give this place 7 stars if that was a thing and definitely adding to my favorite places to go back to when in Tuscany ❤️

One of the best pasta (Pici) dishes i have ever tasted. The meat (lingua di vitello) was also delicious and really cooked to perfection. The food is presented in a very original and esthetic way. The wine (Brunello di Montalcino) was wonderful. The owner is very friendly and helpful and also fun.

We sat down at a table for about 10 minutes while a waiter and waitress were passing by several times like we were invisible. Finally i approached the waiter asking first a menu. In that moment he told us the table may be booked.
After another few minutes he conformed it was booked. We insisted to see if he can offer a solution. First he said NO and then offered a table inside. We accepted this option as we wanted to eat. While heading inside he said that we may have to wait about an hour to be served as they were full, though there were not more than 12 people outside. And even if the tables would have been booked, as far as i know it is the first come, first served.
Important to mention that the table right next to us has asked for the bill few minutes before.
Would not try to eat there again.

As far as i know,First come first served... Mr Eduard probably you are used to eat at McDonald's couse Is not how It works in restorants.. First of all education,you had a Seat without asking permition to anybody like you were at your home,and diden't ask nothing for 10 minutes,this is the worst part!!!
Second,we work with reservations,people reserve in Advance,and even the table clouse to you asked for the bill,somebody else had reserve it!! You really think that if we have free tables we don't give them to coustumers????
I am not commenting The Worst service in Castelnuovo,couse will be very easy for people ho read your review,Just continue readinng the other reviews ho talk about service at Bengodi!!

Whilst holidaying in Montaperti Tuscany, 4 hungry tourists looking for a restaurant, lost, end up in the picturesque square of Castelnuovo, Bardenaga looking for a meal, we found this excellent restaurant Bengodi. It was very busy, full of patrons, and lively, we thought we had no hope of a table. Even though he was full the owner Red, insisted on accommodating us and set up a special table. We all had a taste of the menu dishes, and sampled each others meals. We were in food heaven! His use of truffle in many dishes is a must to try. It was so good we went back for a 2nd meal, Red and his wife treated us like very special friends. Music and atmosphere was so much.

Very nice place with good and friendly service. We took a platter for two, the sliced meat was good, the cheese was not very tasty, the flan was one that we had to split.
Then we had two truffle tagliolini that honestly tasted like nothing, twenty-five euros each badly spent, too bad. The wine is excellent.

Intimate and well-kept venue. As soon as you enter you are greeted by kindness and surrounded by the typical flavors of the area. Dishes prepared with simple ingredients satisfy every expectation of refinement. Also suitable for those with children. We had a very good time, they offered us a taste of a dessert given our indecision. Small gestures that make returning to a place where you really feel good is pleasant.

There are several very good restaurants in Castelnuovo Berardenga, but this was the best one. My family and I stayed in a villa near here, and ending up eating here at least 5 times. The food is that good! Red, the owner, read the whole menu and described each item. They had an incredible Risotto that was finished in a wheel of pecorina cheese, the local pici pasta with various sauces, grilled steak, tagliatelle with local boar ragu, and many more fantastic items.

A lot of drama for the risotto creamed at the table in the form of pecorino and then made with parboiled... At another table I saw the steak being served on hot soapstone, another sacrilege... Good ravioli, but filling without punch, of the simple mashed potato, even with lumps. Pork belly also good, well cooked with crispy rind, but on the plate you need small pieces that barely weigh 120/130 g, perhaps equivalent to €1 of raw material. Good thing I didn't decide to have dinner with just a second course!
And then the bill: €101. Okay, they offered me a nice grappa. But how do you ask for 100 and one euro??? Few people now maintain the beautiful custom of adjusting the account...

A delicious lunch - we had both daily specials: ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers with freshly shaved truffle and de-boned rabbit stuffed with pecorino and potato also with truffle. The truffle serve on both dish’s was extremely generous and the dishes were very tasty. Served with local wine Buono!

truly wonderful from the wine shop to the kitchen.
The quality of the dishes such as the Pici with cheese, pepper and blueberries and their rice creamed in pecorino cheese sent me into ecstasy. Nothing to take away from the Bengodi duck.
Quality dishes at a very affordable price.

We ate in February in this wine tavern in the room reserved only for couples and therefore in a beautiful, very quiet environment. The creamed risotto in the form of pecorino cheese is very good, as is the duck bengodi style with a side of sweet and sour onions. To finish, excellent millefeuille with raspberry coulis
