Visited Dal Baffo last night. Excellent meal - quality of the food is superb and Mama still seems to control the kitchen. A little more expensive than some others but you have to pay for quality. A fish lovers paradise but there are some meat options.

Ristorante dal Baffo was one of the best dinners we had during our 2-week hunt for great food in Italy. The seafood was exceptional - super fresh and expertly prepared. We came early and sat at one of 4 occupied tables. The food was so good that the diners at each table raved between themselves and with other diners. In... More

We liked the menu displayed outside and when we went in the waiter persuaded us to try the red scorpion which is one I have never tried. It was cooked and filletted at the table with a lovely sauce. The chef is a 75 yr old owner of the business and we finished the meal with her special chocolate cake.... More

There are many good reasons to visit Otranto (the medieval borgo, the wonderful church with its weird 800 m2 floor mosaic, the castle, the beach, the coast) , but Otranto's restaurants is the best. We had a (late, arrived 2.30 pm) great lunch at restaurant dal Baffo. We took Grandma's fantasy, fantasia della nonna, a mix of 6 antipasti of... More

We ordered the antipasti (6 dishes) as we had been recommended to do. The waiter told us that they did have the usual dishes but could substitute some raw seafood. He did not need to tell us that as we had no idea what dishes were actually part of the antipasti. One of the dishes was purely a green vegetable... More

We had a delicious fish dinner Dal Baffo. The primo was a home made pasta with chunks of fish in a savory tomato sauce. The second was an entire fish baked encased in salt and cleaned table side. It was moist and flavorful. (All salt removed). Dessert was a chocolate cake with melted chocolate on top. Both the owner and... More

This is a good place to try some local specialties. Here we shared a very good sea food pasta followed by a local speciality that we had wanted to try. A 'soup' of octopus, potato and tomato. Absolutely delicious and very filling, we waddled back to our hotel. After your meal try the homemade bay leaf liquor with the coffee.... More
