Visited this restaurant twice, once for lunch, once for dinner. It is a busy local fast paced restaurant, some waiters were friendly but the Mamma is grumpy and felt that she was hurrying us off the table. Tables are v close together and bumping into other chairs and tables. No social distancing sadly. Food was lovely, local wine served in a carafe was v drinkable!

Authentic fish osteria

Very nice, authentic, fish restaurant. The place is small and only has tables inside. A bit cramped, but worth it. Highly recommend the antipasti, fish and grilled shrimp. Reasonable prices.

We found this place by accident and were surprised by it's nice atmosphere and low prices. The food is good, variety of sea food on the menu. Their local white vine is also good. Service was fast and friendly. Do yourself a favor and finish the evening with their bocconotto torta.

This place does not follow ANY safety measure against Covid-19. Staff were wearing masks, but no distancing was in place between the tables. The restaurant is small and was incredibly packed, customers and waiters alike would bump constantly on our chairs or ourselves. As soon as customers would leave their table, someone else was immediately ushered in, often even before the table was cleared and cleaned up. We all didn't feel safe. The food was not of good quality, at all, especially the fish. We ordered three different types of pasta with fish (spaghetti allo scoglio, spaghetti al polpo and spaghetti agli scampi) and they all tasted exactly the same. The white clams spaghetti were tasteless. The mussels of the antipasto were pale yellow and looked off (we didn't dare try them). One of us was allergic to shrimps and found a piece of shrimp in her dish, despite having told the waitress while placing the order. Honestly I am surprised by the amount of positive reviews, even from the same period we were there. Luckily the service was fast, so we were able to escape in an hour. Very cheap food, but definitely not worth it. For a couple of euros more you can find way nicer restaurants, with better quality food and more respectful of the safety rules and of the necessities of customers.

We wouldn’t recommend this place, the portion was super tiny (2 shrimps, a little piece of octopus and another piece of fish for 12 euro)?? Salad had sand in it. The only good thing is that the house wine is cheap. The staff wasn’t very friendly and tried to take our dishes away while they were still half full and just in general tried to rush us while taking the order took them a long time.

Well... i have chosen this place having read a blog about Puglia. Unfortunately we picked risotto with seafood. They say show me your risotto And i will know everything about the Restaurant. It was disaster. I wouldnd even say you can call it rissotto. It seemed they cook rise separetly And the seafood souse was tasteless. No smoothnes, no texture, ni taste. Disaster.

So this family run restaurant is a place that we would go to every night that we were visiting in monopoli We looked forward to the fresh delicious food and the fast courteous service each time we were there. The food is simple and wonderful the local wine is soft and delicious-there’s not a big menu and it’s not complicated but it’s just perfect. Interior reminds me of Greece it’s white with blue trim and in a cave like setting. On numerous occasions we had a mixed fried seafood platter which was unbelievable as well as some of the pasta dishes which were delicious and served in metal trays to keep it hot. Pasta was always cooked to perfection! These people take pride in what they serve and it’s guaranteed that you will have a lovely experience here.

Fantastic Fresh Fish

Was recommend this place whilst in Monopoli and was not disappointed! Firstly if you are looking for a peaceful meal - then maybe this place isn't for you! All the tables are very close together and has a loud atmosphere (for me it was great because it is all part of the experience!). The Fish is very well cooked and is so fresh it was lovely! The house wine was great too (And so cheap!). I would definitely recommend to come here if you like Fish! I would recommend to get here early unless you don't mind waiting. We got seated straight away but when we left there was quite bit of a queue! It is also great value for money!

Trip to Monopoli, we pass in front of this tavern, the less exposed is very inviting with very good prices. Come on in. Super courteous staff, two mini welcome bruschetta (great), we take a house appetizer, 3 oysters, grilled skewer, chips and salad. Food quality very much to improve, white wine not good. Very disappointed, I weighed spending 57€. Too bad.

We love to find tucked an away ‘local’ osteria when we go to Italy and have experienced some real gems, this unfortunately was not one of them! It was full of Italian people good sign we thought, the ‘ head waiter’ spoke to a somewhat stern looking lady and she pointed to the back left of the restaurant which was very near the WC. We speak enough Italian to get by and order our food and house white wine which is mostly drinkable, think Pinot Grigio. This wine was bad! We had a mixed starter which was fine although not a fan of cuttlefish, octopus mussels etc were okay. Main courses we had grilled octopus (7/10) grilled prawns which were overcooked they had turned to cotton wool texture !! Sides- salad and some fries! Total bill was €64 which the bill was bought to our table by said stern looking lady, she honestly looked like she was sucking a lemon! The rest of the staff were friendly enough though! When we went to pay the ‘lady’ did not acknowledge us at all took the money and no “ Grazie ” nothing at all just plain rude. We are back in various places for a big birthday next year and we definitely won’t be returning here!

Nightmare restaurant, it’s a tourist trap. Small portions and dizaster food. We ordered spaghetti allo scoglio it was literally canned tomatoes with over cooked shrimps. Everything tasteless. Full of people with tables touching with one another. Never again, I absolutely do not recommend, just do not go there.

I really, really wanted to love this place because it has everything I look for in an Italian restaurant: it's small, nonna rules the roost, it just looks good. First, they have too many tables in too small a space; ok, I don't like it but I can live with it. Then Noona comes out to take the order and it's a train wreck. I speak Italian but in both Italian and English it's like she can't concentrate on taking our order. Then she starts pushing us to have everything brought out at once, instead of first course, second course, etc. Basically she wants to rush us through the meal. We finally agree that we'll take the courses all at once (so weird!) and within five minutes they're bringing out the first part of our meal. Frankly, our table wasn't even big enough to accommodate all of our dishes all at once and we ended up putting some things on the next table (until it was occupied). The salads came out with little plastic packets of olive oil and vinegar; this is in Italy???? We later saw other tables with bottles of olive oil but we had the little plastic packets. We were in the back room of the restaurant and it was packed full of people, to the point that many of the people couldn't leave their tables without multiple other people at other tables getting up to let them out. At the end of the meal they tried to bring out another plate of food because they didn't know that someone had already brought that serving out before; it took a while to make them understand we had already eaten it once and didn't want it again. The food was actually not bad but it is 180 degrees opposite a traditional Italian experience. Sorry, no, I can't recommend this to anyone.

Place in the center therefore very popular, everyone is really kind, the prices are honest, but unfortunately the quality of the food is poor. The pasta was all pre-cooked and well over cooked (both the orecchiette and the spaghetti), the sauces were nothing special and the appetizer wasn't even memorable. It's a shame in a beautiful place, and close to the sea, to eat like this. Sorry for the staff, they were all kind. We will hardly return

We are a group of friends on holiday in Monopoli (we come from a seaside resort), we were recommended this restaurant for a fish lunch. To say the least poor quality fish, I took linguine with scampi, where scampi, the main ingredient, was not fresh. Hearty appetizers but with little quality. A good thing is not to have paid too much, being a fish lunch. The only good course, the house limoncello. I assume it is more of a tourist restaurant, but I come from a seaside resort and I understand fresh fish, since I eat it every week, I just do not accept it.

Walked into this restaurant with no prior knowledge and no reservations. It was busy and we were seated at the all time worst table, at the intersection of the bar, bussing station & passageway to the rest of the restaurant. The worst part was the slamming down of the menus right beside our heads as they reached over us to return them to the pile. The food was mediocre at best, and way over salted.
