Called in at the Highwayman on Friday on our way to w/e break destination. Welcomed by David, very professional and friendly. Sat in very comfortable area for drinks whilst waiting for our table. Soon shown to our table and were soon enjoying wonderful meal.

Had a great meal, very well organised for ten people. I had quite a few emails back and forwards to arrange this and the owners were very helpful, even putting up a banner for me and decorating my husband's plate with a happy birthday message.

Great food very welcoming staff. Food very thoughtful and flavoursome without pretentious undertones. Good bar with an eye to quality foregoing cliched or standard beer for a fantastic Japanese lager. Owners commended.

Sunday family lunch, plenty of choice and an excellent venue, service a bit slow between courses so leave plenty of time. Well recommended.

Went for an evening meal, pleasantly surprised by both the pub itself and also the food and drink on offer. Landlord was really helpful and accommodating and couldn't have made us more welcome. Would definitely eat there again asap !

Description
A friendly family welcome is extended to all who visit The Highwayman, a grade II listed 17th century timber framed building that has been sympathetically extended. Located on the A140, just a few minutes outside Ipswich, Needham Market and Stowmarket in Suffolk, The Highwayman is easily accessible and an ideal meeting point for all occasions.David & Olga took over the running of The Highwayman restaurant in Ipswich in October 2004 and warmly welcome everyone to sample the honest homecooked food, a good selection and well kept real ales. The main restaurant and galleries provide a traditional and relaxing atmosphere in the which to dine amongst soft lighting that compliments the exposed oak frame of the building. Our food is all about the ingredients which, whenever possible, are locally sourced, seasonal and always freshly prepared. In particular a relaxing Sunday lunchtime at The Highwayman is sure to become a tradition. Tuck into roast rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
