Our second Christmas Day Lunch at the Highwayman. It was excellent with a nice relaxed atmosphere, not hurried in any way, with excellent food and helpful host and staff.

We enjoyed a very tasty perfectly seasoned evening meal on Saturday evening, our first visit back to this pub for many years. The beef and Guinness pie, with tender meat and homemade pastry topping was delicious and the dauphinoise potatoes that came with my pork...More

We stopped here by chance as it looked so cosy and inviting, although dark you could see the begonias around the entrance were still in full bloom. We had a lovely welcome from David who went through the menu with us, everything on there was...More

Several visits here over the years and whilst the food is good, the menu is very limited & seems to never change, and to be honest the atmosphere is a little sterile.

Whilst not an extensive menu, what they had was a good selection. Opted for the Veggie option and was not disappointed. Nice cosy atmosphere, staff were very friendly

A friendly family welcome is extended to all who visit The Highwayman, a grade II listed 17th century timber framed building that has been sympathetically extended. Located on the A140, just a few minutes outside Ipswich, Needham Market and Stowmarket in Suffolk, The Highwayman is easily accessible and an ideal meeting point for all occasions.David & Olga took over the running of The Highwayman restaurant in Ipswich in October 2004 and warmly welcome everyone to sample the honest homecooked food, a good selection and well kept real ales. The main restaurant and galleries provide a traditional and relaxing atmosphere in the which to dine amongst soft lighting that compliments the exposed oak frame of the building. Our food is all about the ingredients which, whenever possible, are locally sourced, seasonal and always freshly prepared. In particular a relaxing Sunday lunchtime at The Highwayman is sure to become a tradition. Tuck into roast rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
