beautiful meal with attentive service from friendly staff, dined on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full this did not stop the staff from providing excellent service and all courses were delivered in a timely manor. my as entree we had a bread platter...with various pesto and relishes ample tor two and very tasty. this was followed by Lamb shanks for my partner and The steak for myself my partner enjoyed her Meal and I found the steak with mushrooms very good well presented and a good size. plates were cleared efficiently and then desert was had my partner had the rhubarb and plumb trifle and I had the gelato ice cream trio Yum. we also had a glass of the house merlo and sav very acceptable. All in all an enjoyable dining experience in wonderful surroundings with a lovely log fire in the lounge bar area. worth the travel up through the mountain bush.More

This is a lovely place to have lunch and warm up when visiting snowy Mt Egmont. When we arrived the restaurant was fully booked for lunch but they still offered us items from their snack menu. We loved sitting on their couch and eating hot...soup. They have a really cosy area filled with couches around the fireplace.More

A lovely greeting on arrival, the flame effect fires were on and it was very cosy. We had booked to have dinner, overnight stay and breakfast. We had room 4...which was lovely and we enjoyed a spa bath, room was kept warm with a heater...and beds had electric blanket. Proper milk too for making your tea/coffee (something I always appreciate). We relaxed by the fire for a few drinks before dinner, and wow what a dinner....we had Scallops and prawns, Rewana garlic bread, Steak and blue cheese sauce and smoked duck, followed by Lemon panacotta.....Service was awesome, friendly chatty staff and owners................... Can highly recommend for a night away or longer.....felt totally relaxed and refreshed. Oh I forgot to mention breakfast, again great service and the big brekkie went down well with hubby and the breakfast burger was delicious. .....More

We had a lovely lunch here. Good food, reasonable prices, great service. We were late for our booking but they were very helpful and understanding. The views are superb too.

Went for brunch on sunday with friends who live in the area. All the meals were really lovely. The breakfast burgers had lovely homemade hash browns,my husband raved about the huge french toast. Coffee good and strong. My friend always gets the hot chocolate which...she said is delicious. We sat outside as it was a stunning day, unfortunately tables with the mountain view were taken. It was a really relaxing. Staff lovely and friendly. Would advise to book on the weekend, as I noticed all the inside tables were reserved for lunch.More

We were firstly invited to view the bedrooms and were very impressed. We then all sat in the lounge and a drink, before having a very nice dinner in the dining room. The dinner and service were very good and is an excellent place to...get together for small to medium-sized groups.More

Very nice setting and friendly staff. They booked the best table with a view of the mountain. It was a superb day and we had a wonderful time. Got there an hour and a half early and walked the Patea loop track which goes from...the hotel and back to the hotel. Took us 1 hour as opposed to 1.5hrs the brochure said. Great forest with lots of moss hanging from the trees. Very peaceful and relaxing for the soul. The meal was just what we wanted and a great setting. Fantastic.More

My partner and I stayed for two nights and ate there both nights, as the food was so good. To start with we sat on the comfy sofas by the fire, while we had a drink and viewed the menu. They friendly wait staff took...our order and suggested we could stay by the fire, if we were happy and she’d take us to our table when our first course was ready. Our first course was a beautiful broccoli and blue cheese soup, served with thinly sliced toasted ciabatta. It was well balanced and a sensible portion size. For main, I had the in-house smoked duck and my partner opted for a rare scotch fillet steak. Both meals were beautifully presented and cooked well. For dessert, we shared the cheese, fruit and nut platter with a glass of port. This was the only let down, as the creamy Camembert was rubbery, reminiscent of the cheap supermarket stuff. Also the nuts were a little uninspiring, obviously straight out of a packet mix. However, the blue cheese and mature cheddar rescued the dish, along with their amazing homemade crackers. Their wine selection was excellent and just a little different and the local craft beer was superbMore
