Nice lunch

Stopped on a canal barge at New Year to have lunch with friends. Moored up outside the pub. Had a good friendly welcome from the landlord. The pub was closing for re-furnish meant, so the menu was limited. However, we had a delightful lunch, good beer, good coffee. Real fires and view out onto... read more

Hi Shirley Many thanks for the kind words; understanding at the time of your visit and touching on the refurb in particular. I'm pleased to say we are now deep in to the project and, as the risk of commentators cursing proceedings, remain on course for our planned re-launch in the third week of Feb. We look forward to seeing... More

Passing through Carnforth and decided to take a walk along the canal whilst there called in for a drink and coffee, friendly staff and lovely cup of coffee sat in conservatory which has lovely view of the swans and the barges walked about 3 miles along the canal path and returned to the Canal Turn for another coffee definitely a... We often visit The Canal Turn. It's a brilliant pub in Carnforth. The staff are always very friendly and sincere, none of the falseness you see these days. Great beer on tap. It's brilliant!

Called in here on Sunday for Sunday lunch with my father. I had been once before a very long time ago so was wondering what was different. We both ordered lunch, 1 beef and I pork. Before our lunch was served we were treated to complimentary fresh bread (still warm from the oven) and butter - that was unexpected and... More

If you want to visit a real pub with a terrific food, look no further than the Canal Turn. This is the most welcoming place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. When a restaurant says you are welcome to just have a drink at the bar, it is usually an uncomfortable experience but not here. This is a... More

Had a really great meal with the family at The Canal Turn. Tasty locally sourced food well presented ....plus the best choice of wine by the glass we've ever encountered in a pub! Lina Trowman

Driving around Carnforth at around 8:20 searching for a place to eat, we happened across The Canal Turn, and what an absolute delight that we did. We were seated in a conservatory overlooking the canal (albeit it was a tad dark!) and the service from both waiter and waitresses was flawless. The menu was a variety of choice from your... More

Much improved now it's under new management. We'd stopped coming but glad we tried again. Nice lentil soup and Cumberland sausage ring. Will be even better after the upcoming refurbishment.

The leek and cheese pie is joke, a pie in its dish with mash placed on top of the pie crust with onion and one eight inch carrot, no gravy, pie very sloppy, who ever came up with this has no idea, all the plates were odd the other meals average, wont be going back

Hi Mark Thank you for choosing us as your first post on Tripadvisor. It's always dissapointing to hear of customers who haven't enjoyed their experience at The Turn. However, in this case I think it truly highlights the subjectiveness of food and eating out in general as all of the things you mention and criticise are loved by our other... More
