A very nostalgic place to have food and drink. Plenty of choice and good service. You can even sit outside relax and watch the trains go by while you eat.

We visited the station this week to take in the heritage centre and the brief encounter "experience". It was like stepping back in time, really fascinating and friendly staff, finished off with a lovely tea and cake in the refreshment room. Really good quality and although they were about to close there was no hurry by the staff even when... More

We called in just to have a pot of tea in this iconic refreshment room and we weren't disappointed. We were served 'proper' tea in a pot with a strainer. I also had a shortbread biscuit which melted in the mouth and was a perfect complement to the tea. Hope to visit again and take in the heritage centre next... More

Having previously enjoyed a full English experience in the Refreshment Room we didn't hesitate to make the 30 mile journey to join family for a revisit. It wasn't as good as last time - it was better. The service was friendly and efficient - the food excellent and freshly cooked- faultless. One very nice touch is the fact that the... More

A well furnished tea room with lots of character. Tea served in a large tea pot with tea strainer and cups. The cakes were wonderful. Brilliant service and interesting conversation to be had. There is a second room behind the counter but the best seats are at the front. The tea rooms connect to the heritage center. There is a... More

A great setting, it is the place chosen by our grandchildren to eat every time we visit. We have as much enjoyment watching the trains go by as the children. Staff very friendly food always very tasty, unfortunately always to full up to try one of the delicious cakes. They even serve old fashioned tea, in a teapot with tealeaf... More

We visit here quite often and have always enjoyed it. The children like to watch the trains go past through the window so that keeps them entertained! The food is quite pricey but very tasty indeed. Their sandwiches are delicious!

Was overcharged and insulted when I pointed this out and then served very tasty double egg, chips and ham to find most of my ham was extremely fatty but when pointed this out very quietly was again met with rude staff will not be going there again

The Visitor Centre, Carnforth Station. A film, Brief Encounter, was filmed here in 1945 and the part of the station used in the film has been refurbished and there is a museum, attracting not only film but train buffs. Visitors flock to the refreshment room where, in the film, most of the action took place.
