If you are looking for a traditional place with great traditional food this is the place in isla Cristina. We tried it due to TripAdvisor comments and it was worthy. Excellent quality for a great value. We tried the most traditional dishes, tuna fish, gambas and squid! All of them fantastic. The restaurant is run by a couple, she is... More

It is really a famous experience in el gatos meson! Very very kindly hosts and the best food in town - for sure! We've tried other restaurants, but only in el gato you'll find authentic food excellently made.

Definitly the best Restaurant in town. We have been there three times during our holiday. We had tuna, meat, gambas etc. and everything was delicious. Also the tomatosalat was really good. I can recommend Albondigas, they werde lovely! The owner, in her the owner?, is a nice guy and speaks someone english. The menue is only in spanish, but dont worry,... More

Went to this restaurant due to previous reviews and local information centre recommendation. Food and service were so good we went back four days later. It is situated in not the "best" part of town but the entrance through the small doorway and the restaurant opens up like the Tardis, authentic Spanish interior, serving perhaps 30 covers. Take a Spanish... More

I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. The owner was most welcoming (he even drove to meet our friends who had trouble finding the restaurant) His passion for good food was clear to see. The ingredients were top quality. The cooking isn't fussy, portions are generous. There's a limited wine list but this place is all about the welcome and... More

Small local resturant with excellent service and nice atmosphere, good food to a very good price. We ate the recomendation from the waiter and it was excellent! What we missed were some background music, preferrably Spanish guitar Music, salt and pepper on the table. All in all a very priceworthy charming Isla Cristina restaurant!

A charming, difficult to find but possibly the best taberna we ever met at isla Cristina. Very nice ''gato'' style octopus, incredible raw piece of tuna and champagne homemade squids. A word of advice... always listen to the owner ( Salvador) recommendations. Very honest and the best value for price.

Thank you Tripadvisor reviewers without whom we'd never have found this place, which is in a typical Andaluz narrow street of low roofed houses. The simple sliced tomato entrée is excellent, the squid in champagne also, but the albondigas de choco are even better! Albondigas are usually meatballs, but in this case the meat is replaced by cuttlefish. Sublime. We... More

Lovely little place off a side street and the area looks like a building site. We walked past it once and didn't notice it even though we had been following Google maps. We had tomato salad, squid in wine sauce and tuna in garlic oil. Three scorching bread rolls, bottle of water and bottle of wine. Enough for us three.... More

I agree 100% with the Spanish-language reviews for this restaurant, so I'll add my own words in English for a larger audience. This is an out-of-the-way restaurant; you have to want to go there--and you will. The food is great, and the personal attention from the owner/cook, Salvador, is unmatched. I tried the same dishes as the other reviews mention:... More
