When in Pisa please book a table at the Osteria dell'Usignolo (nightingale). The setting is so beautiful deliberately slightly shabby and classy. Both inside and in the garden. Home made bread and other delicious food all prepared by the owners is waiting for you with a great choice of wines. Service very friendly. Prices are moderate. Strongly recommended!!!

Last night we me and my wife went to Usignolo, a family restaurant managed by only woman. It is a small restaurant with probably 30-40 seats. You need to book to be sure to have a seat and ask to sit in the garden, or in the solo grotto. The food is all home made and the antipasti della casa... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed in a b&b in the area because I was going to fly from Pisa airport early in the morning so decided to get as close as possible. We got there just before dinner and not knowing the area I just googled the nearest restaurants and at first l'osteria dell'usignolo didn't appear but somehow I found... More

A really pleasant find. A small restaurant converted from an old house. Makes all their pasta which was excellent. We ate the parrachi with octopus that was delicious and agree a second dish because, hey, we're in Italy! Good recommendation of a Tuscan wine that was reasonably priced. Overall very good dinner in a low key Tuscan restaurant. 100 %... More

The restaurant is very small and cozy. It is done with so much love that you will feel right at home. Feels a little out of time and place, like you would enter a fairy tale. The entrance is trough the garden and that just enhances that experience. There is so much detail everywhere! And the candles give it all... More

As driving back from Pisa towards Firenze, we found this small osteria some kms off the main road. A worthwhile little diversion! Dinner starts from 8pm onwards only. Its very cozy, quite rustic, a bit dark with candle lights and menu is handwritten with only a few dishes as they are all prepared by only one lady in the kitchen.... More

Authentic & original in a humble yet exquisite Tuscan setting. We loved the attention to detail and I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the delightful lady owner - who I found to be both astute & elegant. The wine list was impressively long & the atmosphere is tuly magical. Bravi!
