Beautiful location and decoration. Exquisite quality of dishes, perfect ingredients and presentation. One of the best meals I have experienced. Friendly and very professional staff. Reasonable quality/price relationship.

The best restaurant I’ve ever eaten in! We had the tasting menu and every course was amazing. The service was perfect. We were crying that we couldn’t finish the magnificent desserts! Beautiful ambience, location and spotlessly clean. There was even a live TV screen to...let you see the chefs at work. 11 out of 10 stars!More

I think we were lucky to get in here, having booked in early August following the covid-19 pandemic. I imagine you’d have to book well in advance any other time of the year. We booked having read reviews on TripAdvisor and this place certainly didn’t...disappoint! Nestled in a small village in the hills between the bay of Naples and Bay of Salerno, this truly is one not to be missed. This is fine dining at its best. You are warmly greeted by the family and team. We arrived an hour early and were allowed to take cocktails in the gardens, even thought the staff were clearly preparing for the evening’s bookings. The tour of the wine cellar and Library are great, you’ll be amazed at the wine cellar and the caves that extend underground into a secret passage. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service to match. The staff were attentive and undeniably professional, we didn’t go with the tasting and choose from the a la carte and we were glad in a way we had. Alongside the starter and main we chose each (all of which were fabulous), they also brought out breads, a selection of amuse bouche, petit fours and Limoncello. Am not sure we could fit anything else in! I can highly recommend the Vesuvius rigatoni, it was to die for, and the lamb for main was also excellent. A nice touch is that you are greeted during your meal by each of the owners and Head Chef. We came away feeling like we’d been welcomed into someone’s home, but an exquisite one at that with the most amazing food and experience. Our only tip is to book in advance, this is a gem hidden in the hills. You can also stay in the hotel for 500EU a night, but we stayed at the Relais Blu approximately 20 minutes away which was amazing. Don’t hesitate to book!More

Tucked away at the top of the hills overlooking Sorrento, this gem was worth the Taxi ride and the cost of the Dinner, not cheap, but you won't be disappointed, everything was perfection and all the Staff very welcoming. The rooms are beautiful.

We are a little wary of tasting menus-usually too much food and you lose track of the tastes. But we threw caution to the winds and had a very memorable lunch. (and there are good value wines on the menu.) Don Alfonso's is truly wonderful...and not to be missed. (At a nearby table a group of 4 from Milan were celebrating a birthday. They had flown in to Naples and drove to the restaurant. All in one day!). The staff were excellent and each member of the family stopped by all the tables for a kind chat. We were invited to visit the kitchen, meet the chef and see the amazing wine cellar. We will never forget the hospitality, atmosphere (and food!).More

This was possibly one of the greatest dining experiences I have ever had! Streets ahead of Il Buco, where we dined after here. The service was spot on, treated like family, as opposed to mere cash cows. The food was spectacular - I live in...central London and we have vast amounts of 2 and 3 star restaurants and this was right up there with the best of them, even on a par on some produced by the late, great Joel Robuchon. Special mention to the pastry chef who produced some of the best desserts we have ever seen or had the pleasure of tasting. The wine list was incredible, very well thought out and reasonably priced. Compare this to that at Il Buco and it is like the teacher and the student - the Somm at Il Buco could learn a lot from here. I will definitely return to this restaurant and indeed this area of Campania, truly delightful!More

It had been 14 years since my last visit to Don Alfonso 1890. All those years I had been thinking about the wonderful meals I had eaten there, aching for a chance to return. The wait was worth it. My cousin, her husband and I...had a fantastic experience there that none of us will for get. The flavors that the chefs get from the obviously first rate ingredients are sublime. From the amuse bouche to the extra desserts brought, the food was sometimes surprising (the eel ice cream!), sometimes soothing and always delicious. The service is the height of professional without being unfriendly. Every member of the staff we encountered was wonderful. The family owners could not have been more welcoming and warm. Tours of the kitchen and wine cellar are required. i cannot overstate how great an experience Don Alfonso 1890 provides.More

The passion behind their own grown ingredients was great to experience. The flavour combinations that they produced with them felt lacking. I think they can do much better, but maybe there are to focused on the experience and story instead of the flavours.

This restaurant provides so much more than just Michelin star food, it provides you with an experience like no other. A lovely atmosphere inside the modern restaurant with views into the kitchen where the magic happens. The family are extremely welcoming and provided my fiancé...and I with a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar as well as pictures of their farm where they grow a lot of their own produce. When leaving, Mario (the owner) came outside to say his goodbyes and was interested to find out about our time in Italy. I will definitely be back in the future to relive this experience!More

Now I understand why this restaurant gets such high ratings! Our driver over said that we should expect "an experience" and it certainly was. The food was excellent. I ordered the traditional tasting menu and my partner ordered the other one. We did not have...one bad dish. Not only was the food amazing, but the level of attention and service is unparalleled. The owners some and visit each table, make you feel welcomed and part of their family. They are simply nice, genuine people, which makes you want to return all the time. They knew we were celebrating our anniversary and sent out extra desserts. They give you a tour of the wine cellar, kitchen, and tell you a bit of their history. We stayed in Positano and paid a private driver 200 Euro to drive us to Sorrento to shop for a bit before driving us the the restaurant and back to the hotel. This was our best experience yet! I highly recommend coming here. You will not regret it!More

That was exactly what we had and if I remember correctly it was around €300. Expensive, but worth it for the experience.
