We came here for a lunch time snack one day and it was so good we came back for dinner the next evening. The best food we have had on our trip and the vista is perfect. The tuna was exquisite, perfectly rare and the...salad was so good I wrote down the ingredients with the hope I could replicate it at home. The owner is French so knows her food and I would highly recommend this place if you would enjoy fabulous food, a great atmosphere and the most beautiful sunset.More
In a beautiful setting on an amazing beach. Sunsets are amazing. The food is excellent and the lady who runs it has been there for over 20 years. The food has an Arabic twist and you won’t find chips here! The prices were fine. I...don’t understand why people are complaining at all. Thank you. It was amazing.More
Amazing little gem on the beach! Wonderful food. We had the aubergines, saffron linguine and tuna steak! My boys enjoyed the fresh juices and Ice creams! I’ll be going back this year!
Lovely setting on the beach that offers great sunset views, sun beds and a relaxing atmosphere. Went here a couple of times and ate relatively good, portion are very small and over priced but are tasty. It’s a good place to chill out on the...beach and then maybe have lunch or dinner.More
Whenever we are in Stavros, we visit this restaurant. Big pluses for the relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and quick service. Minuses for small portions and prices quite high, if you do not order food, they pretend that the table has a reservation and you have...to go. The staff want you to pay in cash explaining the problem with the terminal. When you say you don't have cash, it suddenly works because they have no choice. It's not fair for guests.More
The Sunset Bar is apparently a place that gets people to write a kind of hate-reviews here. Let me explain the place: it is a beach restaurant with some sunbeds to rent in front. The place does look like something you would find for backpackers...in Thailand. Some find I cosy, relaxed and lovely. I, a 57 year old business owner simply just loves it. So if you want to go, just be tuned in on this setting and not on a 5 star Hotel. And the view of the ocean and the sunset is just the best. ........ so now to the food. I was there the last two days. I had salads, fish, rice, spinach gratin, and an egplant dish. So now: all was super! The fish (tuna) was perfectly grilled and tasted better than what I have had in any expensive restruant. And there was so much fish that I could not even eat all (hope the cats get the rest). The vegetable side dishes we the best I have hat for a long time. Im just back from Chania were the food in a well rated restaurant could not match the food in "Sunset". So now to service in "Sunset". The owner is a personality with her own mind. Not talkative but friendly direct. Not the superficial "friendly talk" in many other restaurants. But she is NOT rude, and the food is delivered fast by her staff - incl husband. I have the feeling that some of these "hate like" comments are made with malicious purposes. They are definitely not true. But if you expect white table cloth and artificially friendly waiters, then please don't come to "Sunset". You will not like the place. But if you like to hang out in a cosy laid- back place with very good food and "personalities" (Gordon Ramsey is also a personality) then come and enjoy with the rest of like-minded people. PS. I'm not a friend of the owner, just a customer that want the the truth is written here!More
Rip off! The tuna steak seemed like it came from a package, heated in the microwave.. the sunset salad was so small. The bill came, over 30 euros! Total rip off! Avoid this place! It’s overpriced, food is below average.
The place is a pretentious hippy style (sh… hole), dirty and impolite just like the hippy owner. It is absolutely without grace and It is not sea view, it’s just beach bed view. The menu is some kind of aberration written also with English mistakes…...and if you want to deviate you will be insulted by the owner! If by any chance you just need a drink you will be ordered to sit with 20 smokers almost at the toilet (not sure if they have one by the way). With all due respect forget this place and enjoy the wonderful gold beach 100m away from this placeMore
I've been visiting Stavros Sunset restaurant-bar more than a decade. To be honest this year I was much disappointed from the owner and the quality of service. We arrived at approximately 21:00. To my disappointment most of the tables were reserved!! although they were empty...but we managed to share a table with another family. Malika the owner informed us that food is served only until 21:00 (midsummer restaurant at Crete and they don't serve food after 21:00??? where exactly are we at 5 star hotel at Switzerland? Where everything closes after 20:00.sorry guys no hard feelings but we live in Greece!). Anyway! She said we serve only drinks at this hour. OK I say I will not let anyone ruin our night. Do you have a catalogue? No she said Iam the catalogue. She murmured something with Jin fizz as an option and another one with Jin base. Any other cocktail? With Vodka? Yes (yes what?) anyway we ordered the one with Jin tea or something. The result was a cocktail which we was not a cocktail at all and we paid 16 euros which of course were not worth it! Totally waste of money. I won't recommend it.More
I am not convinced if the people who hig rating the place are rating actually the sunset and the location or the restaurant.. The dishes are very expensive and the quantity is the least it could be. They overcharge everything they can and they are...really rude. Not so much the waiter but the owners. It doesn't worth a cent.. The correct choice is to buy something from a market nearby and chill on the same beach some meters further and enjoy the sunset avoiding the bad vibe. I felt sorry for the guys who were working there.. Don't try it.. SorryMore
Perfect, quite location, stay late, watch the sunset and enjoy the food with Greek, French, Arabic influences.
Everything other reviewers say about the setting, beach, sunset etc is true. A good, secluded beach with a somewhat friendly business on it. Maybe it's just me, but I expected I wouldn't have to pay for sunbeds as well, since I got two cocktails when...we first arrived and, the place was nearly empty. Pricey, mediocre drinks with very expensive sunbeds. 8 euros for two sunbeds, 16 euros for two margaritas.More
Dropped in for a frap and then a beer - lots of staff on, friendly and a gorgeous setting. Feels like you're in the Caribean. Amazing tables which are massive cable drums dug into the sand.
The setting is wonderful, think Caribbean style beach bar, toes in the sand, wonderful sunsets. Service was friendly and efficient. We were disappointed however by the food. While tasty enough, portions were small and prices were higher than elsewhere. We were definitely glad to have...visited once but felt we wouldn't be rushing back, maybe for a drink and snack but not for dinner.More
