After reading several glowing reviews (and they also offer cooking classes!) we decided to check this place out. It's dinghy alright, on the inside even more so, but we thought, what the heck, just a quiant local place. Unfortunately, it was simply unhygienic. Dirty tablecloths, beer bottles brought in without glasses, very dubious food (my stomach felt uneasy for hours... More

I visited here after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed! The initial first impression of the restaurant is that it is quite dark and nothing special. There isn't an outdoor area which is common for Unawatuna, and it very much feels like you're sitting in someone's house. The menu here is very extensive, and I chose the... More

Me and my wife ate at Happy Spice on the 2nd night of our Sri Lankan holiday and can honestly say the food will have to go some to beat the Sri Lankan curry we had here! It is nice to see someone doing predominantly Sri Lankan food. Most of the beach places seem obsessed with serving Pizza and Burgers.... More

Great taste and very well cooked seafood, price lower than other places in seafront Unawatuna. We took Grilled prawns with honey sauce and seafood noodles. Recommended!

Wonderful, authentic home cooked curry in Unawatuna, where it is hard to find any decent local food! Highly recommend!! We also did the cooking class which was fantastic and relaxed too.

Really nice people, great service, cheap and so so so DELICIOUS. We are here two or three times, and were absolutely happy with every meal. We love Happy Spice. They do cooking lessons too, which we regret not doing as we would have learned to make their dishes.

Had never eaten Sri Lankan food before and this was the perfect place to come. Totally authentic home cooked food- we had no idea what to expect but we loved it! The décor is nothing to write home about and it is located on a side street but the food makes up for it!

Don't be put off by the decor, this restaurant is well worth a visit. The prices are great value 700-900rupees for a massive rice & curry / devilled dish. The curries are some of the best I've tasted & because it's family run you get such great, warm service. If I'm ever back in town I will be doing the... More

Had amazing meals like fish curry with rice & papadam , deviled chicken and the best of all were their rotis we had chicken roti, cheese roti, chicken and cheese roti , chocolate roti . All their dishes were at a good affordable rate as compared to other places I... More
